And I'm being prompted with administrator password....

What's up with this? and how can I get around it without reinstalling?

You did a fresh XP install and it's prompting you for a password? You probably specified one during setup. If you're sure you didn't, try logging in with a blank password. As a last resort, you can always reset the administrative password using a boot disk. Hope this helps!
