Steam has a great mod workshop, there are thousands of mods for the newest version of rimworld. Too many mods can cause errors but you can easily get 50-100+ at once if you are careful about what you use, mainly you need to avoid mods that adjust the same features.

One awesome thing about the mods is you can pick and choose to focus on different playstyles of game times. For example add fantasy races and magic classes and magic waeapons, you can get some more RPG like gameplay. Or add aliens and crazy technology for more sci fi oriented stuff, or just combine it all.

Some of my favorites are:

The star wars Mods, 3+ seperate ones for light sabers, force powers/jedi, and star wars factions like the empire and rebels.

Cthulhu cults, the main mod allows you to form a cult and worship elder gods. You can perform human sacrifices for special powers from the gods you worship, there are also mods to add Lovecraftian monsters and other relevant features.

Hospitality. This mod overhauls the guest feature, allowing you to recruit guests or let them buy goods from you. They will also rate their stay when leaving and leave gifts if impressed or avoid coming back if not.

Giddy Up. This lets you mount animals and ride them into combat, also lets raiders do the same.

Genetics Rim. This adds genetics for all the animals, when you obtain genes you can use them to create hybrid animals. Also compatible with Giddy Up so you can ride all sorts of hybrids.

Dinosaur Rim, I forget the exact name. But it's a mod that adds all sorts of dinosaurs. Also compatible with Giddy up and Genetic Rim so you can make animal/dino hybrids and ride them around

And aside from more major mods like that there are a lot of quality of life mods that make gameplay smoother, like the allow tool which adds more allow commands such as allow all. Or gardening mods that add more plants and tiers of plants to grow, or advanced soil you can research for faster growth. Or mods for new types of food, or to expand the alcohol/smokeleaf industries with more variety. I also tend to use a lot of turret mods which makes defense easier late game.

Another cool one is Infused. It adds a random magic item element where whenever a weapons/clothes get made they have a chance to be infused with special properties like various stat boosts.

Then there's another mod that adds magical classes with XP leveling. And another for RPG/Diablo style inventories for colonists to make it even more RPG like.

What mod is that? I got the additional animal mod but that the only one so far.
