The Fucking Cordycep Mushrooms...

I want to talk about the Cordycep mushrooms.....:mushroom:

        How in the fuck does this fungus take over insect lives and parasitise them??  They say it's very unlikely that it could effect humans that way but I think chance remains.....

          How many of you have played the game "The Last of Us"? ...
I think the concept of a fungal pathogen (such as Cordyceps genera)  infecting the human population is not only a terrifying one, but also a slightly realistic one as well....

              Thoughts on this subject???  😄😄😄

It's broader and deeper than can ever be imagined by our punny brains.

Oh, and they did some test and there are several species, described as 'chasing' after one another, all within the same host. So, when you buy cordyceps, it's important to get them from a reliable source that knows their fungi.com

i had an ant crawl in my ear one nite (it was on my pillow, apparently) as i was almost asleep.  fucker struggled in there and worked itself deeper and deeper; couldn't get it out.  i haven't had time to go to the doc for an ear flush yet, and after a day or so, it settled (dead) and wasn't blocking the entryway anymore.


i had the thought: what if that ant was already infected but not fully "zombied?"  what if the cordyceps strain, being that close to a pathway to the brain, was able to colonize my ear and travel into me and do what it does to ants?

so far, so good, but maybe it also takes a lot longer to colonize the brain of a human than that of an ant.

    Right, definetly demonstrates intelligence in my opinion as well.  I've recently become very interested in Cordyceps species, their health benefits, as well as their survival strategies. 🙂

    That's going out on a leaf... 😄😄😅.  Let's theorize and say, what about the intelligence of this selected predatory parasitic behavior observed in this species of mushroom??

      What caused this type of adaptation in the fungal realm and can it EVENTUALLY effect more complex beings like animals for instance.... :shrug:

that shit don't work, least not for me.  i once had a chunk of wax/dirt/sawdust/saw-chips in my ear the size of a peanut.  the nurse said he'd never seen anything like it before come out of someone's ear.

wearing ear plugs all day, 4-6 days per week, cleaning them ~once per week, you get some funky shit in there, and it gets packed down fast.


that dead ant is probably like the mosquito encased in amber in Jurassic Park.
