Comedian Volodymyr Zelensky wins Ukrainian presidential election
    #25953887 -

Somehow I didn't hear about this until today:

Comedian Volodymyr Zelensky wins Ukrainian presidential election

I guess the US-backed President (Poroshenko) didn't work out so well... again.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

I think his only platform was that he was a decent person.

Either that, or it was "I'm not Poroshenko".  :smirk:

We have a clown president and they get a comedian president.

Sounds reasonable.

Quote:
Prior to his political career, he obtained a degree in law and created a production company, Kvartal 95, which produces films, cartoons and TV comedy shows. Kvartal created the television series Servant of the People, in which Zelensky played the role of President of Ukraine. The series aired from 2015 to 2019. A political party of the same name was created in March 2018 by employees of Kvartal 95.

Quote:
The show tells the story of Vasyl Petrovych Holoborodko (Volodymyr Zelensky), a thirty-something high school history teacher who unexpectedly wins election to the presidency of Ukraine after a viral video shows him ranting against government corruption in Ukraine.

Well if that don't sound like one of the most subtle and clever elections campaigns ever...
