Welcome to the shroomery, click the link in my signature to see what grows in your area, also check out the Georgia actives thread and the ovoidiocystidiata thread. Please read the rules before posting.

You can not ask for or give out exact locations or ask for hunting partners in the forums, nor should you ask what's growing in your area.  We have these rules for obvious reasons, please respect them and we will help you identify your mushrooms.

Georgia is an awesome state for mushroom hunting, lots of fascinating stuff out there. Post clear up close pictures of the cap gills and stipe.

Welcome to the Shroomery!

Please check the Mushroom Locations to find out which mushrooms grow in your area. Then research what they look like, what habitat they prefer and what time of year you're likely to find them. Also, find out which ones are most common as some of the ones on the list might be quite rare and you'll spend a lifetime looking for them. Be sure to post you're ID requests here until you are comfortable identifying them for yourself.

Unfortunately it is against forum rules for us to tell you exact locations where they grow, so you'll just have to do the research and legwork for yourself, but that's part of the fun anyway.

I don't give medical advise because I am not a medical professional, but I trust you will look into the possible side effects for yourself before you decide to consume these. However, I think it's safe to say that just even getting out into nature and taking your mind off things for a while will do your mental health the world of good!

Edit: sorry if I'm repeating much of what Doc said, but I spent too much time typing it to go back and change it!

By the way psilocybe ovoidiocystidiata are fruiting now, check along creeks and rivers in the flood plain, especially where wood is piled up and buried wood. Psilocybe weilii will start around June, cubensis can be found in the southern part of the state now in cow pastures, good luck and post pictures for identification before eating any mushrooms and make sure it's a Trusted identifier making the id, we have a tag under our avatar.
