SEQ hunt
    #25908858 -

Hi, I couldn't see a QLD related post so I made my own.

I was out on Brisbane southside for an hour and a half yesterday and the same today searching good looking areas with zero luck. Saw a couple mushrooms but none of the right sort. Is anyone else down here having the same problem or am I just looking in the wrong areas?

Cheers

How can we know? You haven't said what your looking for and described in what areas you searched.

Apologies,

I have searched near paddocks and creeks on a trail (and explored off it) 25 minutes south-west of Brisbane cbd. I am honestly looking for anything that works. I have found a few different types of mushrooms but noticed no bluing when I bruised them so figured they weren't any good. I figured I'd find anything that bruised blue and then do further testing at home

Please take good pictures of every find regardless of blue bruising, and post them here for us to help you identify.

Welcome to the Shroomery. :toast:

Sounds like you need to research what species is thriving in this particular time of year and climate. Good-luck with your hunt

I do - Is there anyone in Brisbane who is willing to share some local knowledge because I have heard some grow year round here but there doesn't appear to be a great deal of reliable info out there on this

Welcome to the shroomery,  the woodlovers are just starting to come into season, such as Psilocybe subaueruginosa.

Concentrate your search on areas with lots of woodchips, like landscaping in parks and businesses, especially if it has irrigation.

As stated above by master Anglerfish, post pictures of your observations and we will help you identify your mushrooms.  Post clear up close pictures of the cap, gills/pores and stipe (stem), an in situ photo is also helpful.  :goodluck::irishtoast::cheers:

He took it into account  woodlovers love colder weather while most dung lovers are warm weather. Docs spot on. Goodluck on your hunts!

Just went out for a little search. It seems I came across two different species. No bluing so don't think they are anything

I heard Amanita vaginata is a good edible,  but I haven't found any that wasn't bug infested to try.

Cheers,

During my search I found some superb looking moist wooded areas, down in valleys and near creeks and water sources but saw nothing in those areas. I imagine it might still be a bit warm for the cooler species so does that mean it is just a waiting game for the season to transition?
