Re: Do you have a stance on vaccines? [Re: brk]
    #25879064 -

the CDC itself lists a 1/1000 chance for seizures (plural) for measles which is a moderately serious side effect wouldn't you say?

Can't just say 1/1,000,000 period lmao. It's a vastly more complex subject than that. It matters what the vaccine is for, it matters how it was forumlated, it matters on the specific batch, it matters on a lot of things - so let's not try and boil this down to "ONE SIMPLE BIG NUMBER YOU CAN TRUST!" remember these people are in business  Even if the side effect of that business may often be beneficial - that doesn't mean they're not going to try and push their bottom line - and more or less lie to do so ... because *gasp* that's what every fucking corporation does in this country.

In this case, the CDC is more partial

I've met exactly no people who have had I'll effects from vaccines.

And when you make a claim like your sister, which is from the distant past it seems, I'm unsure how to quantify its reliability

It is a business. His number seems unrealistic. I don't know the severity of the seizer side effect either. Many layers here

You can take it like that if you want, but what I'm getting at is, there's a culture developing of people who trust shitty youtube videos over a community of people that have dedicated their lives to studying something incredibly complex.

They certainly aren't always right, and information changes over time. It just makes alot more sense to trust the information provided by scientists, given the limited time your average person has to look into these topics.

They certainly aren't always right, and are also not a unit of like minded thinkers.
As I said, the 1/100,000,000 number does seem hyperbolic. People die of stubbed toes more often then that probably.

I've seen this tactic used by globle warming alarmists, so it annoys me.

The conversations about vaccines quickly become dogmatic and emotional on both sides.

Its very difficult to exchange ideas on this topic.

That being said, i think that the truth about vaccines and their safety is somewhere in the middle of both arguments.

What we are seeing are the popular talking points on each side, being exchanged over and over again.

Ex. Vaccines and autism, herd immunity, vaccine injuries, people getting the disease from the vaccine, vaccines being the cutting edge of medicine and technology, vaccine conspiracies of population control, etc.

But i almost never see people talk about the bare bones of vaccines.

Ex.

Vaccine ingredients.

The warning labels on the vaccine boxes themselves, that list injuries associated with the ingredients.

Clinical studies on vaccines

Clinical studies on the individual ingredients and their safety, as well as efficacy.

Real numbers from the CDC on vaccine injuries

Comprehensive list of vaccines being given today, and why

Diseases vaccines are attempting to treat and why

...

I think i will stop there for now.

My point is, people need to dig deeper into these topics they are passionate about.

The ideas they are discussing are just scratching the surface, and they have taken sides based on a logical talking point that bears no real evidence for or against a vaccine. What we are seeing is most people hold a faith-based vaccine opinion.

Lets use some more investigation before we jump straight to judgment and declare ourselves all knowing.

I mean... how many fully paralyzed people have you met in general?

I've met people who've experienced more minor effects - but she's the only one I've known personally to have experienced a major one, though I've heard other testimonials. I mean it's just not something you'd ever know normally, you meet a half-brain dead person who was that lucky 1/1,000,000 or 1/100,000 whatever it is for that vaccine, no one's probably going to tell you why they're that way.

In my half-sister's case, it's pretty clear - as far as anyone familiar with the case can tell - literally the only dissenting opinions I heard were the opposition corporate lawyers, judges, & administering doctors (while other doctors having viewed the evidence agreed w/ our side). The evidence was quite clear - she was deemed 'completely healthy' by a doctor at birth - continued to be healthy for months without issue ... and within hours of being administered a particular vaccine, she started to develop symptoms which manifested in paralysis within a 1.5~ days after administration.

As far as I know, older vaccines contained methylmercury instead of ethylmercury? Not that I'd like to particularly injest either - as well as having less exact amounts in each dose - a number of people suggested that the batch she was exposed to had higher than average methylmercury quantities - as was reported many times throughout the 80s.

These are the kinds of details that need to be explored more instead of immediately taking the contrarian or pessimistic point of view.

Its so easy for people to come up with logic to support their opinion on either side.

I have never met an amputee in real life, and nobody that i know has met an amputee in real life, therefore they must not exist.

See how close minded that sounds?

Edit: By the way, amputees make up about 1% of the population.

Thats 10,000 out of every 1,000,000 people have amputated limbs in america.

If the numbers for vaccine injury are 1 out of a million, 10, or 100 out of a million, its a little naive to use the 'ive never seen one' argument

If it were 1/1,000,000 I'd assume to never see one. Its an insane number. I have seen people with amputated limbs. Even that isn't common. I think I've only seen a few people with dwarfism too. That seems exceedingly rare(thankfully, poor people, really messes with your bones usually)

Exactly, so then we get into the conversation of numbers, which numbers are correct? how do you prove it? How many cases go unreported or unlinked? How many cases are slid under the rug as doctors protect themselves from malpractice lawsuits? How many are slid under the rug by hospital committees to protect their lovlihood theyve worked so many decades for?

Theres no real numbers here.

Unless you trust the gov't and their cdc numbers as fact.

And idk bout you, but i dont trust anybody who would lock me up for mushrooms

Sure; but that they're reporting a fairly serious side effect (seizures) as 1/1000 - that shows a pretty good degree of honesty imo - as those are not low odds, its hard to know what exactly to make of any of it specifically ofc.

No doubt truthfulness is valued by me.

But one piece of truth does not mean an entire industry is honest and open with their secrets!

Again, we have to be very careful about blanketting statements that lack details.

This is 1 vaccine out of how many?

Which vaccine is this?

The datas here in the compensation tab. I guess the old stats on measles looks pretty average, but that's a combined mmr shot now.

Lots of interesting information on that page thanks for that.

Amazing theyve paid out over a billion dollars in vaccine related injuries, but the statistics and information shows that only the very worst of the injuries were able to make it through court, and only one case related to autism paid out.

You've met me, online anyways and I have had I'll effects from vaccines and I mentioned it twice already in this thread. I've had major surgery and will have pain for the rest of my life because of a vaccine. If you look at this you can update yourself and sound smarter when you communicate https://www.hrsa.gov/sites/default/files/hrsa/vaccine-compensation/data/monthly-stats-oct-2018.pdf .

If you don't know about something, then don't talk about it.

If you don't know, don't talk is a stupid adage. I know mostly what the scientist on JRE said. I don't take his word as gospel. He did make compelling arguments against autism being caused by vaccines.
I also am cautious about taking people's word, and settlements as the best evidence, as settlements are just settlements.

I glanced over it, and it seemed to indicate about 3,700 in 3,000,000 were compensated, so 4/3000. If accurate they aren't good numbers.
Settlement doesn't mean the case was proved though, I don't think

The percentage of people compensated for vaccines closely matches the amount of people that naturally will bitch. You could give people free bottles of water and 1/1000 people are going to complain and want compensation even if they spent nothing to begin with.

Get the vaccine like the rest of your society or GTFO and go make your own desease ridden country of your own on some island with no human contact.

Every time you get a vaccine like $.75 of it goes to the VICP compensations fund. They have a huge fund that is there just for these people and they are eager to give them the money rather than spend more money on an unneeded court case. They are strict about proving that you have a medical condition that is the result of the vaccine. It has to require major surgery or last at least 6 months. You have to get lawyers and interview people as evidence just like any other case and they're not willing to give money to people who don't have a strong case with evidence.

I could show you my $20,000 hospital bills, surgery scars, and court fillings, but it sounds like you're not open to being wrong about something. You would rather take info from Joe Rogan's entertainment talk show than real people, science based papers, lawsuits, CDC reports, and evidence.

Where did I say I'm not open to being wrong? That's not a good way to treat skepticism. Its very difficult to link a medical problem to a direct cause.
