People don't get vaccinated against smallpox because smallpox was eradicated as a result of public health initiatives to promote things like vaccination against smallpox.

The last shot that I had was for tetanus and that was over 5 years ago. I will watch out. :lol:

And yeah, I will never be convinced to get a flu shot.

Rusty nails have nothing to do with tetanus

So you have been vaccinated if you had a tetanus shot, probably a T-dap and you probably had shots when you were a kid. If not, then you're going to feel pretty silly when you get measles.

It all comes down to trust. And the sad fact is that many people distrust the government and the medical community in general given their long history of abuse and corruption. I think if you want to get vaccinated go ahead; but I see no reason for vaccinated individuals to be involved in other people getting vaccinated; especially considering they are supposed to be immune; so those not being vaccinated should pose no risk to those who are vaccinated.

All I know is getting injected with some mystery serum that is being given to you by a stranger who most likely doesn't even know the chemical properties of said serum is a dangerous thing; anyone who uses drugs should know that. So the biggest issue here is ignorance. Most people are willing to be injected with a mystery serum out of fear and faith; fear that if they don't they will become infected and faith that the people who composed the serum are trustworthy and that the serum itself is safe. However those who are unwilling are such out of fear that they don't know what is in that serum and they have a general distrust for the establishment that produces/distributes them.

From what we have been told vaccines have alleviated the percentage of people who become infected by various diseases to an extreme extent; which is good. However we have also been told by history that tainted-vaccines have been used on multiple groups many times and that many people have died or been terribly disabled as a result. It is also worth mentioning that it is admitted that even vaccines that weren't tainted are still experimental in nature and that some percentage of the population (albeit a small percentage) end up becoming infected with the virus/disease that the vaccine is meant to protect against (given the nature of vaccines which essentially includes the virus in a 'dead' form)

All that said the vaccine issue is an issue of distrust and ignorance; the population needs to be educated as to exactly what is inside these serums and the potential risks/rewards of injecting oneself with said serums; because the blind faith people seem to have given to the medical community is extremely dangerous if one only looks into history; that and the government / medical / pharmaceutical establishments need to gain the trust back of millions of people if we are to see any kind of change in this situation.

Cuz I tell you this, the way the media/social media/famous people/politicians/etc have approached this topic is only concreting anti-vaxxers beliefs even more and if you ask me is probably driving even more people to avoid using vaccines. And if the government begins to try to further require vaccinations as mandatory all we will see is increasing polarization and conflict.

TLDR: It all comes down to education and trust. Trying to force people to behave a certain way is foolish.

By ' mystery serum' you mean dead bacteria to let your immune system know of that specific invader before you end up like my unvaccinated cousin with polio.

Because the vaccines don't work on everyone so if everyone is vaccinated then it helps the people who aren't vaccinated stay healthy. The concept is so easy. Why can't people understand this?

Yes and no. I understand the basic idea behind vaccination. My father's cousin actually contracted polio from a polio vaccine and has received government assistance because of it ever since.

What I mean by mystery serum is that let's say you go down to the doctor to get vaccinated and they produce a syringe; most likely they don't even tell you what is technically in it; and most likely they themselves don't even know the technical chemical components either. It's like this if you were to go to a back alley and someone produced a syringe and told you it was X you would just have to trust them that it was X.

Now just because you are in a hospital or some establishment and the person giving the syringe is wearing a white coat and has a bunch of degrees doesn't mean that they can be trusted (their are countless cases of untrustworthy doctors and all kinds of stories of fucked up pharma companies etc) So it comes down to whether or not you trust the doctor and the producer of the serum to let yourself be injected with something that you have absolutely no idea what it is. 

I'm curious whether or not you are required to sign something that waves your ability to sue when it comes to vaccines. Something tells me there is. Though I admit this is just an assumption.

That's not the point though. People aren't avoiding vaccination because they don't want to be healthy. They are avoiding vaccination because they distrust the establishment. It's not like this all came out of nowhere. There is a long-history of shady and corrupt activity when it comes to the medical establishment and the government in general. It's the same reason why many people avoid GMOs and why so many people prefer organic produce etc. There is a unmistakable distrust in the establishment when it comes to the chemicals that they inject into food/drinks; this is the same kind of distrust that has fueled anti-vaxxers.

In the 80's many people were suing the vaccine companies, so many so that it almost put them out of business so the VICP (vaccine injury compensation program). Some people have really bad reactions to these vaccines and when that happens you're reimbursed for your injury and any money you lost from it. I went through it before because of a bad TDAP shot. There are more bad reactions to vaccines than just autism, but you should still get vaccinated. Sometimes you have to take a risk to help humanity.

Yes, that is true of course, but it's also medically known (the vaccine) to be lethal to some individuals - amongst other serious health problems.

I'm not saying it would come from a natural source either; a biological attack with smallpox could be incredibly savage in effect.


The obsession over autism and vaccination really muddles the real health problems people do deal with as a result. Sometimes not so serious, sometimes serious permanent injury. Most "pro-vaxxers" deriding peoples choices don't even know about side-effects and are just like... measles!! GET DA VACCINE! Even though the side effects and their probabilities are higher than the probability to be maimed or killed by measles itself in the context of modern medicine & hyper low prevalence (not true with measles 60+ years ago though)

the MMR vaccine (according to direct CDC sources)
- causes seizures in 1/1000 kids (that's not low odds, lol)
- Deafness
- Long-term seizures, coma, or lowered consciousness
- Brain damage

Of course these mirror measles effects themselves. Odds not listed on the last 3 - but yeah, I can definitely see why a parent may not want to willingly subject their kid to this, knowing that the chances of them getting measles are vastly lower than the chances that they'll suffer a fairly severe side effect - and I consider a kid having seizures to be a severe side effect.

Is it necessarily ethical when you consider concepts as 'herd immunity' and what not - not sure. I think I'd just consider there are enough normies willing to vaccinate without thinking twice that it's unnecessary :lol: as mad as that may make others, and if they're vaccinated, nothing to fear right? :wink:

So people are like VACCINES DONT CAUSE AUTISM, - and that's the entire conversation over vaccines... Well okay maybe they don't - but the CDC admits they can cause 'lowered consciousness, and brain damage' that doesn't exactly sound like something to just write off.

And yeah, my half-sister has been paralyzed from the nose down from a vaccine for over 30 years... don't remember which one specifically.

As for your sister, that's an enormous claim and would take some evidence.

They apparently have identified genes related to autism.

I think from memory the Peter Hotez on Joe Rogan said 1/1,000,000 people have an adverse reaction to vaccines, and your chances of getting struck by lightning are 1/750,000. That seems like pretty good odds to me when the alternative is a debilitating disease.

I wish there was a vaccines for scientific distrust.

When you word it like that it makes it a religious statement and puts your perceived position above others in an unappetizing way.

There was also a climate journalist on that made claims about how much more war we would have if temperature increased, and how half of California was going to burn every year. He then backpedaled to 'almost'  half.

He would use the same language, making science a noun instead of a verb. As laymen we must take some things for granted to some extent. There will be things I can't explain. Scientists have to, and often don't. They resort to mockery like Dawkins and Tyson. Surface scratching pompous people doing more harm than good.

lol, there's apparently like 5000 pages of legal documents related to the case which was litigated for 8 years against a massive corporate team of lawyers, but yeah, my dad didn't exactly provide me with the legal details of the case that took place years before I was even born, with a kid he had with his ex-wife. Which if you might imagine he doesn't much like to talk about - I've learned most of it from my mom.

But yeah, that's a bullshit oversimplification - maybe you should try doing your own research.
