Pan Cyan overgrow?

Hey guys...this is my second run at pan cyans...first run, not sure why, but had barely a handfuls from a medium sized mono tub. Granted it was a multi spore...I cloned some tissue on agar and restarted. Colonization was perfect so I cased with a dusting of verm and peat moss and lime. Waited 2 days and mycelium peaked out in a few spots so redusted those...waited 2 more days and went to fruiting. Humidity was between 90-97% at 78 degrees. Mycelium  started appearing and spreading. To ight it's at least 50% overgrown...no sign of knots yet, maybe its to early? Either way, watching other people's grows, I'm not seeing overgrowth like this...any suggestions? Feels like it's going just like last time and am trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong...never had this trouble with cubes...

It happens. As near as anyone can tell it's just bad genetics. You might get some fruits but not where the
overlay has occurred.



Are these Jamaicans by any chance?

I think these are bisporus, actually...
Could be some shit genetics...
What about recasing? Think that would help?

I think what I did wrong with casings for a while was keeping them too wet. The sub would colonize the casing defeating the purpose. Now that I'm allowing casings to dry it's maintaining the microclimate underneath but not making it so easy for the myc to grab onto and colonize. I'd like to hear other opinions on it I'm still trying to figure it out myself. Yours looks kinda wet.

U sure it's bisporus? All the bisporus I grew didn't look like that at all. It was very very thin mycelium that was grey/white. Never solid white like that.

I find the opposite.  The myc won't grow into the casing if its wet.  When it dries, it moves up and colonizes.

Yeah, both times it has been wet...I dropped the humidity to 85%,we'll see if it makes a difference...
Any opinions on reapplying more casing to cover the exposed mycelium? Another person said it won't fruit where the big sploches of mycelium are...?

I had Jamaica first but this was pan bisporus from one of the big vendors...maybe it was labeled wrong...I don't know...I thought they were kissing cousins?

I'm doing Bisporus now. What I've experienced by keeping the casing dryer or at least allowing it to get dry most of the time, the majority of small growth that's been coming through it is rhizomorpic which is turning into pin formation rather than colonization.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna try that, let the casing get pretty dry and mist only when necessary and keep the humidity a bit lower around 85...
Since I don't have fruits yet, I'm thinking about dusting everything with a fresh casing layer and restart the process...

I read over and over they like 78f+ put I can only get my GH up to 75f, should be enough you think or?
Also plan on having a fan on 24/7 (computer fan) inside the GH

Im using an inverted tote with an air pump for FAE and perlite for humidity...Thinking of switching to a shotgun terrarium though. My house stays 60-65 during the winter, anyone have advice for heating a SFG? with holes in the bottom and having it elevated, there's no way to use the heating pad. Any suggestions? thought maybe using an infra-red bulb like this but I don't know that it will work if its outside the chamber and infra red lights only heat up surfaces, not the air.

***UPDATE***
BTW...I re-cased the mycelium. I must have caught it in time as I just sprinkled more moist casing over the top, maybe an 8th inch to cover the splotches. Seems to have worked, now I have pins all over but I'm either struggling with bad genetics or I read you can have too much humidity as some of the pins that are growing out seem to want to stall and start spreading their caps. Humidity was about 80-85 percent since I recased a couple days ago. added more perlite and currently at 87.5% @ 76 degrees. This is a clone from the best of a shitty multi-spore agar grow out. I'll take some pics tomorrow...
