HPPD
    #25862175 -

Anyone else have HPPD?

The visual snow is so annoying.

Also would explain my bad anxiety and bouts of depersonalization...

From what I gather, and through my own self diagnosis, I've got it as well.
I've had it since I was a kid though, like real young, being four or five in my parents bed in the morning, I remember watching lines of multi color dots dance across the ceiling. I've got the visual snow and floaters as well, but with my deteriorating vision and the length of time I've had it, it doesn't bother me very much.
psychedelics definitely make it more poignant and noticeable, but it seems to return to base line and I've never really seen it get permanently worsened. I have noticed what seems like a sharpened horizontal line of those colors in my vision, which I don't know if I've just never paid attention too before or if its become easier to focus on rather than past it.
Fuck it, there's nothing I can do, and it makes life kind of interesting.

Interesting what you say about depersonalization though, I've been having some mental barriers I've been working through myself, and I wonder if my physical vision isn't having a greater deal of effect on it than I imagined. Thanks for the consideration, never thought of it

I'm just here for the Gourmet mushrooms, but this is why I'm scared off of taking any other kind.

Things are working pretty good in the brain department right now so why fuck with it?

I didnt have visual snow until my first trip in 2012, when i took morning glory seeds (which gave me a body load so intense I still wonder if they actually damaged my eyes. my legs were completely like pins and needles, extremely uncomfortable. It felt like my blood wasnt flowing correctly)

Anyway, mine is drug induced. So, I dont know if my experience would be different but.

It seems to be fueled by anxiety. I thought I was going blind in one eye the other day. My anxiety had been at a very low level for awhile. As a result i havent noticed visual snow.

But the other day i thought i was going blind. The harder i focused my left eye, the worse it seemed my vision was. I was looking WAY into my peripheral vision, and the part that cut off seemed too close on both sides. This sent my anxiety into overdrive.

The harder i looked, the more i panicked, and the worse my visual snow got. (Strangely, I only have bad visual snow in one eye.) It got so bad I almost couldnt see. It was like my left eye was "forgetting" what i was looking at, placing a layer of visual snow over it, and my right eye was taking over. Very odd and scary. i felt like this for 2 days, and came to the conclusion I must have hemianopsia induced by a brain tumor pressing on my visual processing thing or optic nerve

Anyway, I remembered about HPPD, looked into visual snow and what do you know. The pictures very vividly explain my "blindness". As I chilled out my vision magically returned to my left eye. Turns out it was never gone, i was just fixating on the snow and it was getting worse as a result. Weird shit.

Its always there, but will mostly go away during the day if i dont fixate on it.

If I do it gets much worse.

I used to think I had HPPD. Turns out I was just living a generally unhealthy lifestyle. Wasnt eating enough calories and had a shit diet. Wasn't exercising. Wasnt getting outside enough. Was smoking too much. Was drinking too much. I developed some pretty bad depersonalization/anxiety issues.  Once I corrected some things in my life and improved my health, my perception and head clarity recovered significantly

OP I have had noticable HPPD since childhood.  but with age and becoming more relaxed and less focused on your vision, your brain will filter it all out back to normal. It only comes back when I focus on it excessively. It's not bad. I do believe that everyone can easily have HPPD on command. Your brain just filters it out.

This includes visual snow, tracers, after images, floaters, and then the possibility for open eye visuals in the dark or closed eye visuals when trying to sleep.

People who don't have HPPD just haven't figured it out and their brain filters it out automatically. Those with HPPD learn how to see it on command, and with practice learn how to filter it out

Now im older having had it for so long, I've used my HPPD when super bored in a waiting room or something to entertain myself. As soon as I stop waiting silently motionless it goes away.

I was just looking into visual snow. It turns out anti depressants can cause them. I also took anti depressants around the time it started I believe.

Not often, its been years actually

I smoke a decent amount of weed.

Since i got my first dab pen (its distillate in a cartridge) ive been hitting that constantly.

I switched from mids to dank/concentrates about 2 months ago. Thats also when I started noticing visual disturbances.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

I find it interesting that so many people who posted here have visual snow in a disorder that is supposedly rare.

I suppose we aren't a good sample for anything like HPPD, anxiety, depersonalization, visual snow, etc. lol

I find it interesting how prevalent mental disorders are here. It often makes me wonder if think is some link between drugs and weird, incurable mental disorders :shitstorm:

Is it weird that my visual snow is basically only in one eye?

My god, you panicked about your vision, started stressin and strainin, and your vision got worse?
HAHA, who'd a thunk?
Relax my dude, your trippin yourself out. Fucking getting high and paranoid! You need to relax and let your body sort itself out.
Walrus has got the best advice I've seen so far. I bet we're both unhealthy as shit.
Your vision is not a separate process in your body, its connected to every other process of your body. It all goes together. Our vision has a direct correlation to the state that we're in.
Time for us to make some changes.

as far as how prevalent all that stuff is here, I think we're just a head strong breed of people who would rather sort out our own shit with the use of various forms of drugs, meditations, and discussion both internal and externally, than go whine to someone who we know wont be able to help us.

After my one and only real bad LSD trip I saw rainbow aura's on things for months

I do remember having light HPPD more often when I was pretty heavy into the mushrooms

Sometimes it just left like a trip never really ended and slight effects persisted for a long time. Often everything "snapped" back to normal after the next trip

You know whet they say

Plenty of sleep
Healthy diet
Exercise

Seems to work for most people

Maybe for a few hours or day after tripping but never longer then that. Floaters and squigglys are normal its you just seeing vessels  in your eye. Snow can be from low blood pressure like getting up too fast. Sometimes I’ve stared at shit so long i tricked myself into
Visuals but soon after i knew it was just me

Let me give you an example

Lets say i have 15 minutes to burn between classes.

and i decide to take a walk.

I start walking in one direction and decide to not take a walk.

So I turn around mid walk and go back to the building where I have 2 classes in a row in.

i will feel like someone watched me walk for no reason and turn around. They will find this suspicious and think im up to something.

If im out in my yard i feel like my neighhbors are watching.

For example id never smoke a joint in a relatively secluded part of my yard because my neighbors can see this part of my yard through one window on the side of their house (that is probably a bathroom window anyway).

Theres literally no way anyone would know its a joint and not a cigarette from that distance even if they were looking.

Same with driving. I feel like im being watched and as a result never detour off of my path.

Its the weirdest shit and i wish it would stop. I smoke a lot of weed, could that be the cause?

I feel paranoid like that in way more situations but those are just some examples.

The other week i thought my friend may have poisoned my drink lmfao

stop smoking weed man! it's not doing you any good

Psychedelics can open your mind and cause mild schizophrenia or a psychosis, this sounds like what youre dealing with.

Stop smoking weed and connect with yourself again.

Did you ever take a lot of nbome chems or other similar phenethylamines? In my experience nbomes are very prone to causing HPPD. More so than other drugs.

When I was younger I went through fazes of taking LSD every day and 25i-nbome every day as well, and the 25i definitely seemed to cause long lasting visual distortions for months afterwards.
My HPPD only really went away after abstaining from psychedelics for about a year.
