Looks like the beer industry is losing the battle... * 1
    #25845335 -

Never thought I will see this day: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2019-03-01/are-beer-sales-declining-carbs-push-drinkers-to-wine-tequila

What do y'all think? Is beer being outcompeted by wine and hards or even by legal weer itself? Will there be a reduction in craft beers in the upcoming years to come? Is beer really losing its popularity amoung the masses?

It is a terrable drug.  It just is awful.  There are things to explain why it's a cheap drug.  There's not much quality thought to the drug.  It is a numbing agent and folks think all drugs are the same due to their ignirant experience with alcohol.

A lot of great writers were drunks. It's terrible on the body though of course.

Beer is my alcoholic beverage of choice. It's not a major vice of mine though, I'm more of a weed smoker.

Same here. Weed is my go-to drug, but i do love my Blue Moon beer. It seems there is a shift of taste toward other types of alcohol which is kinda sad.

I live in the microbrew capital of America (the world, maybe?) and that shit all tastes so bitter. American macro brew ftw, preferably Miller from a bottle.

but yeah it adds the lbs and my meditation is less deep for a day or two after so I drink it sparingly.

Maybe weed will replace beer/alcohol. I know the sales will drop dramatically if nationwide weed becomes non federal.

If I want to get drunk, liquor is my go-to

If I just want to chill and get my buzz on, beer!

Beer just has too many calories to down 10+ of 'em in a night

Beer is so bloaty. I feel gross trying to get drunk on it. I prefer liquor, I make after work cocktail or two, sometimes I have a night cap. Too much alcohol in general is gross though.

I used to like Molson Golden but I think they don't make it anymore.

There plenty of people who are happy to pay 60+ case for really heady brew.  If anything it will force out the β€œfake” craft breweries even though that I highly doubt.

I love great beer

The article describes a decline in the beer category, but they don't mention the proportion of the overall alcohol industry. I'd guess beer is still the dominant alcoholic beverage in the industry.

Everything is cyclical with the market,  the craft beer craze has hit its peak and you either are passionate about beer or find the scene repulsive similar to fine wine.

The beer market has split into craft and the traditional big name light beer drinker which neither has respect for one another.

In my area the craft cocktail craze is still going strong although most of it is all smoke and mirrors.

When I used to regularly drink i enjoyed beer but not to get a buzz with as all you do is pee after a few beers,  one in,  one out.

Vodka/cran is my go to drink these days. All that craft drink craze is BS to get more hipster money. Those fucking 1920-1970's cocktails went away for reasons. If anyone has ever tended bar they know exactly why those fucking drinks suck to make, and they taste like shit mostly unless they are sweet, to me anyway.

some of the craft cocktail bars I've been to have been absolutely incredible. There really doing some mind blowing stuff on the cutting edge of mixology. it's truly an art that synergize science style and taste. They certainly arent mixing drinks from the 70s that's disgusting Lol. maybe drinks from the turn of the century.
