Adding Ram to laptop

So I have this laptop.

I'm looking to add in another 4 or 8 gig's of ram. I don't really understand what all the different meanings are and types. Can anyone provide me with links of options that would work for that. Been meaning to do this for a while but I don't want to order the wrong thing.

Basically look at the specs of your laptop to see what will work and make sure its labelled as "laptop memory". Laptop memory is smaller than drsktop memory and has more pins.

How do i view a list of my specs so I can just list them here. It's actually an acer aspire e5-575 signature edition. I5 core.

Scroll to RAM, note the type, and search for the same type of RAM technology. Make sure its for "laptops".

that ones for an i3 mines an i5

or does that not matter

plus its got 8 gigs of ram already not 4

They likely use the same type of RAM. Also u can take the cover off the laptop (take battery out first) and in fine print there will be info about the RAM type on a sticker on the RAM.

One question is how much ram the computer can use. I couldn't find this info but usually it's available somewhere. The cpu has its own max (32 GB) but there may be a lower max imposed by the motherboard. It might even be the case that 2x4GB is the most it can take.

Usually the website of the company has specs on the limits. If not, emailing the company directly is also a good way to get the RAM limits.

I was reading some reviews and it sounds like it comes with 1x8GB and can handle at least 2x8GB.

EnjoyWho. Faster RAM has a higher MHz value. Keep that in mind when shopping. Usually it will have "gaming" in the title or description of the RAM.

the back off and the bottom i had to replace the hinge that connects the bottom to the screen. It didn't have a battery to pull out. Atleast not one I could find lol. Weird af as it stays charged for quite some time but what looks like the battery slot is empty.

just look for the ones that have your model in the description

then you can take the specs of the one that has your model number
and see if there's other ones you like that would also work

I didn't really check. All though i know where the ram goes i'm pretty sure. I was more concerned with just fixing the hinge and getting back online :lol:

I think an extra 4-8 gb of ram would really make it a lot better. It already does everything I need it to and then some I think it'll just clean it up a little. As I usually multi task while playing games. Like music and bs.

Eventually I plan on building a pc so I don't want to invest in a new laptop as this one is pretty great for the cost. Right now i'm saving up for a car though. So it's not top priority.

Yeah I love my desktop. Its a lot bigger than a laptop, but the freedom it provides is just too awesome.

Yea my brother built a kick ass one not too long ago. Was pretty bad ass. Spent about a grand on it. I'm kind of in between places to live atm staying at the parents. So I'm getting a car while I pay dirt cheap rent and get my own place. Once I have my own place i'll start getting a part every paycheck and get a nice desktop set up going on.

Apparently it can be better performance wise if you have exactly the same make and model of ram in both slots. Not sure if this applies to all modern computers and ram. But it might be ideal if you could find another stick of exactly the same ram you already have. There are software tools that can tell you the exact ram you have.

I'll look into it. I also read if you want to add lets say 8 gb. It's better to get however many slots you have equal to 8. Like 2 4's or 4 2's than to just get 1 8.
