Comment request before harvest

Hello all. It looks like this cluster is ready or close to ready to harvest. About 5 of the veils are separated, Should I wait for more, or just pic it now? Also, why do I feel like these are sub-par? Is it just because its ms, or something I can change? And any comments on the bigger guy? Last question, which would be better to clone? The big guy was first, but the cluster matured quicker. Thanks in advance

I usually wait until the caps flatten out a bit, but before the edges start to turn up, to harvest. 

That said, if you wanted to harvest those, you’d be fine.  They’re at peak potency by unit weight right now.

Ok, this is my first grow though, I thought veil broken was when the spores drop. Misinformation from fb. Any indicators for when thats about to happen?

Around when the veil tears is when to harvest, little before, little after doesn't matter.

Flat caps actually tend to get more fucked up and broken in bags than more closed caps, for that reason it is generally prefered to not have totally flat caps in addition to the fact no significant weight is added from a cap flattening, unless you just really want a flat cap to have a flat cap there is no reason not to harvest all those now.


On your cloning question google search let's grow mushrooms by marc Keith and watch the whole series three times.

Congrats on your first grow. The small fruit size is probably genetics. Take a few clones to have an array of trials to spread the risk of having poor genetics. Generally clusters are good to clone from, though that big one is not a bad candidate considering.

Thank you all! Went ahead and waited a couple hours just to have a few more open then picked. Came out to about 71 gs, some 7 gs of aborts, wet. Accidentally pulled some substrate with the cluster. Is that gonna be a big deal?
