I have never used an SAB, because my form of inoculation hasn't done me wrong in several years and it's pretty much free (don't have to buy a SAB). I hardly want to bring it up, because everyone on here always makes fun of me for using the Oven Tek.

I pre-heat the oven to its lowest setting, I wash my hands, I use gloves that have been washed and sterilized with rubbing alcohol, use a dust mask, and then for each jar, I soak the needle of the syringe in a bowl of rubbing alcohol and flame sterilize the needle before each injection. I then place one jar at a time on the oven rack and inject from there.

The last injection on January 30th has yielded no infections so far.

I have wanted to do prints but I have always wondered how to keep it sterile?

Do you put the spores from the print into the syringe? Does anyone have a good tek for starters on spore print to spawn?

The last LC I did was KSSS and it was from a MS syringe, and I got a TON of really small little mushys. (Bottom left picture in my signature). It was a strange grow but I definitely got a yield out of it!

I've never used agar but I've always wanted to start trying. Usually when I get done with a grow, I like to get rid of all evidence after. I have diagnosed anxiety and I can't have stuff growing here, and usually involve friends once I have the bins made.

I'm really looking forward to seeing if it works out better this time.

My lights from China just got delivered and installed on 2/5 of my bins - 1 meter “waterproof” LED strips at 6000-6500k. I drill small holes in the lid and use zip ties to secure the LED strip in place. I then use silicon to fill the small drill holes (not done yet). I’ve had huge success with this method with a timer to 12 hours on / 12 hours off.

I’ve also got my bins’ holes drilled: 1.5” on bottom and 2” on top. Duct taped for when colonization happens after I introduce the substrate.

I will use Damion5050’s Coir Tek.

So, I went ahead and bought the other 3/5 bins for the remaining 3 strains, and also drilled / taped the holes, because I’m bored and don’t want to deal with it later. I also have the holes for the two LED lights that I have on the lids sealed up with silicone. The other 3 lights are on their way from China lmao

I also got this badass 2 foot drill mixer, and can’t wait to use it in all of my 5 gallon bucket mixing needs! Most pressing would be the Coir / Verm mix coming up soon. I’m done using manual labor for that shit.

i use one of those mixers every time i make coir. I do two bricks to a buckets and can mix them perfectly in about a minute. it's beautiful

Yea, I saw several different kinds but this one seemed to be able to mix the widest variety of materials. I was surprised at how cheap it was...

In anybody’s opinion, what are the advantages to using 100% coir vs a mix of coir and verm? I’ve definitely heard good things...teks appreciated too

Biggest advantage is u don't have to buy verm.

:whathesaid:
coupled with the fact that you'll probably see no difference in yield, the saving on money becomes a noticeable factor

Nice, well I already have a complete full Home Depot shelf filled with materials / minerals and if there are no advantages to substrate vs. yield, I should probably go ahead and get rid of my verm. I'll do only coir from now on. Thanks guys!

I wanted to show you guys a cool pic of later this last year. I started to try to make DMT and it really, really worked out perfect. This is from the first yield of 100 g of MHRB. Check it out:

i wouldn't suggest giving up on verm based on our findings. Hang on to it until you have some tested clones and then do side by sides. research for yourself. It's the only way to know what's what in this world. And, you already have the verm so... why not. The one thing verm absolutely does do is allow more water to be held by the substrate.

Updates from last week: It appears that my new lids are working better than expected! I haven’t shaken my B+ or Mazapatec jars once and they are almost fully colonized. 0 contaminates again so far with the Oven Tek. CRAZY!!!

I’ve got 1 more light in, waiting on two more, then I’ll make the lids for the other strains...

Here is a pic of a 2 gallon jug G-bong in a sink full of ice that me and my buddy made the other day for ya

Does anyone have any good tips or advice on how to properly Polyfill your tubs so that you have them properly “dialed in” well for a set and forget method?

I have looked for teks on this but only found minimal information. I’ve been told “super tight” poly on bottom and “light” poly on top. But on my grow last year I was asked why I used so much poly.

Different people will tell you different things. It really depends on how much water is in your sub, the relative humidity of the room, the airflow in the room and the position of the tub in the room.

here is what frank thinks about top poly tightness. I actually use less than that in my top holes.

The bottom holes just need enough poly to hold in place and be tight. I take a wad of poly thats about as big as my hand and stands an inch or two high. I fold it over on itself until it's nicely compacted and the stuff it in the hole.

Definitely thanks for the input. I have seen that post but just had questions mainly regarding the bottom holes.

Much appreciated verum subsequentis. Thanks for following me on this thread.
