Which is exactly why Government should step in.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

It is about control.

It's about:

When you make a mess, you clean it up.

With power comes responsibility.

When America leads the world follows...

...well they did.

You and qman said you couldn't give two shits about a future climate catastrophe, so yes, a certain level of control is good.

If you thought it was fun to set forest fires because you couldn't give two shits about the potential impact, then the Government should make setting forest fires illegal (which they have).

I advocate for states to take matters into their own hands.

Would you be okay with that?

It's not that I don't give two shits about "a future climate catastrophe", I just don't think we have too many options available when it comes to energy usage and I also don't think there's necessarily "a future climate catastrophe" as a result of what we're doing today.

I will never understand this conservative obsession with state governments.

How would leaving the solutions to climate change up to each state better solve climate change?

It could be better or worse.

At least it will keep power out of the government's hands.

Alot of the GND is about infrastructure projects. Sort of like the wall.

How about we stack solar panels on top of the wall!

I just solved America!

How are state governments not governments? Most of the laws that affect your life everyday are state laws.

What a strange reality conservatives live in

The fact is when it comes to regulations, the laws that affect Americans lives the most are passed in California. Industry has to comply with California laws and because California has the largest population and the biggest economy, the rules that California sets are adopted nationwide by industry.

I agree with what The Ecstatic previously said.
The Ecstatic said:
Leaving it up to the states (which are governments too by the way) means that absolutely no progress will happen in red states... it renders the progress made in other states/countries useless.

What exactly stops Trump from declaring global warming to be a national emergency
then building the wall out of solar panels, slanted in such a way as to be more difficult to climb?

It's a good idea as long as the government doesn't force us to give up cars..

I don't know why you're so strongly against the Government making our lives better.  I don't mind clean air, education, defense, sanitation, Social Security, etc.

Do you really believe they will be selling cars with internal combustion engines in 15 years?

Governments have a bad history of going tyrannical. They can get too powerful and infringe on God given freedoms.

I would rather err on the side of 50 states. The government and Constitution exists simply to protect us while we thrive in any way we see fit.

States can be responsible.
