transportation change
    #25806250 -

So, i'm about to spend more money on a bicycle than I did when I bought my minivan.

The bike I decided to buy is the Espin Sport for $1700 the 2019 edition is $1900. I'm buying the 2019 edition once it comes out in a few weeks.

My van cost $1,800.

Since living in your van is cool in Colorado they are in high demand I guess here.

I think I can sell mine for $4,000 here. It has leather heated seats & only 140,000 miles, 2004.

Fuck you car insurance!
Fuck the DPS!
Fuck Registration every year!
Fuck buying car parts and doing maintenance!
Fuck emission test!
Fuck paying for gas/diesel
Fuck oil changes!
&& fuck my CDL

I'm done with it all.

Yea it's fun to do as a hobby. Not as your primary mode of transportation.

Cycling in the warmer months and the van in the colder ones. I use a tricycle with a basket in the back for runs to the grocery store.

I road a bike without a motor working two jobs and biking over 30 miles between my house & the two jobs.

After that I got into the 2 stroke motor bike kits and built a few.

So yeah I'm doing it fuckers.

My van needs $2,000 worth of maintenance I could spend my money on that or sell it for $4,000 get my tax money so $5,000 buy the bike for 2k and still have $3,000 in the bank to buy another vehicle if need be. You can buy cheap minivans all day long for $1,000.

I live on a 13 acre mountain home & my driveway has like 8 switchbacks but I'm only 1.5 miles from my job plus they got bike paths everywhere here.

I'm in the hiring process for door dash.

My electric bicycle will pay for itself in a few weeks doing deliveries here in Denver on it when I'm not working my other job.

It sounds like you got a good deal on the van.  And are getting a nice bike.  Don't sell your van.  you will still need it and regret your decision later.

I would keep it if it didnt need work

The engine and transmission both need work. It has not started a few times and scared the shit out of me then started fine.

I got a good deal at $1,700 and it has paid for itself in rent savings.

This generation has bad transmission and the fluid is dark when I changed it. The 3rd gear clutch pack is slowly deteriorating. It has so many little problems.

If the transmission goes out it's worth $500 right now I can easly get $3,000 gonna shoot for $4,000 people got their tax money looking to blow it

I really want a Toyota minivan.

With the engine not starting and knowing the transmission will eventually fail I'm going to sell it for a profit for the first time in my life.

Every other time my vehicle finally dies forever and I get scrap prices because I drive cheap vehicles or I wreak them on xanax & alchohol combo

I'm not really selling the van to buy the bike.

$1100 is coming from tax return and a single weeks check will cover the rest.

I'm going to put the money from my van into my savings account and will most likely buy a Toyota Sienna for $5,000-$10,000 price range come next fall/winter

Can't you just get a used $100 bike off craigslist and save the rest of your money? Why do you need a bike that costs so much?

I dont wanna be the motor

I want the motor to be quite

This will be my only source of transportation as well as a 2nd income from Door Dash

fuck your $100 pawn shop bicycle

The ebike I'm buying is on the cheaper end of the spectrum.

A good ebike cost $2,000-$7,000.

Hell a good bicycle cost a grand.

Yall need to sells yall cars and trucks and do the same thing.

This is the best way to combat climate change.

It is mind blowing how much we fuck up shit in the oil & gas industry.

I did commercial hot shots, water transfer for fracking, & fracking also drilled residential wells even then we polluted streams with carcinogenic materials used in the drilling process made by Halliburton.

They pissed me off at work so I had 3 different agency show up the next morning to investigate. We were in a flood zone and the steam ran straight into army property.

I think 3 wheels is where it's at. Now when I get on a bicycle my mind is blown with how much energy I'm using trying to balance. On the tricycle that's a non issue. Plus the basket in the back is great! It is bulky in comparison though. A bit harder to get up stairs or load in a vehicle.

Shit I'm rambling

I really enjoyed the experience of riding a bike through the city. Your allowed to get away with things motorcycles can't and ride down roads that other motor vehicles cannot. Your in much more control of a bicycle and more in tune with the environment around you.

Motorized bicycles are really sweet. I bet I road over 3,000 miles on mine in dfw.

We had a Facebook group in the DFW area, we would all meet up and ride our motor bikes through the city, it was fun. Now I'm going to get paid to do it through door dash.

I did not even think about the money I could make off of bicycle deliveries using it when I posted this fourm.

One great thing about a nice bicycle is that the technology moves (relatively) slowly. A solid bike is going to last you probably 10-20 years. There aren't many products like that.

I'm in the door dash system. I start tomorrow doing deliveries. I did orientation this morning.

I think I will keep my van and do deliveries with both the minivan and ebike now.

I wish I would have thought about door dash sooner.
