A little background is necessary for you to understand what I experienced on my most recent trip 2 nights ago. I've been in a relationship for 20 years. That's not a typo, 20 years. My boyfriend and I have lived together (this go around) since 2010. But obviously, just by calling him what he is, my boyfriend, there are issues or we would have married at some point in those 20 years.
20 years is a long time. We've been through more difficult times than I could ever have imagined possible. Yet we are still here. Still together. Kind of. I love the man. I know he loves me. But there has been this distance between us for the last couple of years. This invisible wall we have both built. We can still see each other, hear each other, but at all times anymore are careful not to get too close. Which is devastating to me. This used to not be our way.
So for the last couple of years every time we or I have tripped I could not stand to be in the same room as him. The tension, his negativity, just roiled off of him and it would deeply affect me. So whether we started out tripping together or I started by myself, every time I would end up alone in my bed or somewhere in my truck. Tripping. Alone. And that's not a bad thing. I learned that I really enjoy tripping alone. I shed a lot of tears, but it's very cathartic. The mushrooms have taught me a lot, forced me to face things I'd been carrying around for years, weighing me down. But I missed the shared experiences my boyfriend and I used to have on shrooms.
So 2 nights ago he picked up 6 grams of penis envy. Our water pipes had just busted that day so I had booked a room at a casino. We checked in, took showers, and split the 6 grams. I brewed my 3 grams in tea, as usual. I took my tea to the casino and we went our separate ways. I found a secluded spot and started playing slots. As I drank my tea the machines started warping and that amazing awareness started seeping in. I probably played for about 45 minutes then decided I was ready to go back to my room, or outside, or anywhere but there. I started to head back to my room when I happily ran into my boyfriend. He was of the same mindset but we didn't rush right out of the casino.
Instead we stood upstairs looking out over the balcony and the entire bespectacled place. Wow. The colors and patterns of the place are amazing. Of course there were strobing lights from the machines and bold bright colors everywhere. We laughed pretty hard trying to figure out if there was light reflecting off a blondish woman's head or a bald spot (definitely lights). Then decided to go back to the room. Together. And that great distance between us was gone. We were just together again and it was so nice. We lay on the bed and talked and tripped. Laughed. Cried. Apologized. And finally we made love. Like we used to. Like we still love each other.
2 days later he's distant again. Biggggggg sigh. But at least we were able to experience our old love for another night. Maybe it'll happen again sometime.
