>>Almost like Shpongle, but not the same.

There are many good psychedelic ambient artists out there that are equally powerful as Shpongle.  Negativland are way more psychedelic than Shpongle in my opinion.  Especially their "Escape From Noise" album.

I have heard of Shulman, just haven't heard Shulman.

Give the album "Soundscapes and Modern Tales" a listen, and I'm going to see if I can find "Escape from the Noise".

Im going to post again. Refused. "post punk" european rockers. They have lyrical substance, and their music is probably the most original thing ive heard come out of punk in a long time. It makes me think about music.

I downloaded Escape From Noise and it took me a good half an hour to find the damn lyrics. Pretty bizarre album, and some of the samples just make me laugh. Some things really make you think too.
I also downloaded A Big 10-8 Place.

Tool - all albums (at the top, the others in no particular order)
====

Zepplin
Peter Gabriel's Passion album
Unkle
Massive Attack
Aphex Twin
are my favs

Tool is like a drug all on its own. Its actually art, which is hard to say for most music these days.

Lyrics?   Aside from Nesbit's Lime Soda most of the tracks aren't really traditional songs in the sense of having lyrics.   Sure you found the right album?

>>Pretty bizarre album, and some of the samples just make me laugh. Some things really make you think too.

That's the whole point!   I love that entire album, except for the Nesbit's Lime Soda song...just kinda hokey in my opinion.   The editing they did with JFK's voice for Christianity is Stupid is really amazing...

By lyrics, I mean the samples for the entire songs. I have trouble picking out lyrics/samples without having a reference guide, so it really helped. I listened to it once while searching for the sample/lyrics and thought it was OK. Then after I found out what was being said, it got 10 times better.
I especially like "Yellow Black and Rectangular". Very warped and sounds like the midst of a very intense acid induced conversion.
And also at the end of "Christianity is Stupid" when the song ends a voice comes on and says "Shop as usual....and avoid panic buying"

>>Yellow Black and Rectangular

Oh, what does it mean?  There there, lie back on the couch.  AM I LOSING MY MIND??

You do realize what Negativland is doing, right?  Sound collages are simply brilliant in my opinion.  The final part of that song where it diverts back to "normal" language is the sample that they spliced the rest of that song from.  Negativland has and entire album where all the songs they producer are made from Coke and Pepsi commercials.

Love & Light,

Boppity

Does anyone else like listening to Bob Marley when tripping? His music is very happy and optimistic, and it always puts me in a good mood, tripping or not.

Try going back into time and find a band called Incredible String Band. Lots of scitars. Scottich hippies basically. The albums to get are called Wee Tam and Big Huge. It comes in a double album. The lyrics are very poetic in nature, easily understandable as far as clarity of speech, and just bring about wild visuals. Try it, it is a good break from the techno freak type stuff being produced nowadays and can bring about a very peaceful hippy trippy state of mind.

Yeah, Incredible String Band is classic. Their song structures change every 30-seconds. 'Ducks on a Pond' is a good song, but their all good, in their own way, huh?
