What do you consider the most horrible thought in the universe?
    #25789941 -

For me, it's this:

Quote:
Imagine living eternally in your body, forever young in perfect health.

Great right?

No, forever is a big place.

Earth will get hotter until the sun literally swallows it. Then all stars stop shining throughout the universe. Then there will be no more matter left other than radiation, hypermassive black holes, and you, floating in empty dark space.

Imagine floating in empty space for a gazillion years, no stars no nothing, body frozen solid yet aware and undying, hoping over and over for a big rip, big crunch or heat death whatever to come set you free.

Imagine you're there now, and this whole universe-out-of-nothing is your frantic escapist dream to NOT BE THERE.

It would suck.

What do you consider the single most horrible thought in the universe?

That it could be potentially infinite.

What being infinite? And, graphically, why does it suck?

The universe being infinite.

I think having infinite versions of ourselves would kind of suck.

Think about it, if you died, there'd still be an infinite number of you's to pick up the thread.

Maybe you won't die, just forever wake up to a new day some day

My first thought was premeditated violence, then I thought bringing harm to anyone in anyway, then I thought harm to children to be the worst

Knowing even in your happiest moments that nothing lasts, everything dies. Your children; thier children; your friends; all the animals and plants; species; cities; forests; ecosystems; oceans; planets; stars; solar systems; galaxies; universes. All of it, eventually all gone. Infinity is unfathomable and unknowable, death knocks on the door every moment. Eventually it makes all things meaningless, the attempt to fathom it to its furthest extent is absolutely numbing. Sure, we can enjoy now, but for how long?

Are you guys familiar with "on the plurality of worlds" by David K. Lewis? It is a rather good text on the subject. Infinity is beyond hope or fear,

I hate the idea that people are just the product of a sentient force to be manipulated and judged. I think the god delusion is the most narrow, idiotic, and fear based way to examine our place in the universe. It reeks of desperation and cowardice.

It should be obvious that the machinations of the universe are beyond the scope of our sight. It would be like a single screw trying to gauge the purpose of an infinitely complicated clock.

Death itself dies too, as evidenced by us being here now

My worst thought is seeing myself in Trump or other leaders.  Forget space, we aren't even there yet at all.

We've barely skimmed the surface.  But I don't try to have powerful thoughts, those just happen out of chaos.

Yoda taught the dark side.  Few know this about star wars.  He taught the power of it so it can be released.  It's power is what grips when it's not released.

For me, its an intergalactic battle involving multiple intelligent species (including us) destroying each other in a huge war. That would be a sad day indeed.

Imagine Trump flipping out over absolutely nothing and launching some nukes at NK, China getting caught up, Putin going FUCK THIS and deploying everything they got causing full commitment of all nuclear powers..

And we'd live in radioactive ruins, EMP's destroyed most technology, nuclear winter descends on us for 20,30 years...

Wouldnt that be tremendously sad?

Gender dysphoria, particularly when tied to reflections on being sexually abused
Looking in the mirror and seeing stubble on my face, or looking down at an oversized cock when trying to piss makes me contemplate suicide several times per day
but writhing in bed unable to escape twisted memories of being overpowered and violated makes me cry and heave on top of suicidal thoughts

am never going to be able to look back over my life and see my experiences through the lens of a cis girl growing into a woman
but that was a roll of biological bad luck

similarly never going to be able to look back over my life and see my gender identity and sexuality in a positive light
in contrast, that was robbed from me

as a more general line of horrible thought, the reality of vicious rape and abuse down through history continuing on to today constantly unnerves me
a couple of the most poignant non-personal impacts of this line of thinking hit me hardest a few years back
in the Witcher 3, there is dialogue where one of local guards effectively tells a farmer that when the guards find his daughter they are going to pass her around for gang-rape, resulting in the farmer keeping her hidden whenever they come to collect taxes
and also resulting in me going nuts and slicing up the entire squad in the middle of town

but, with regards to the real world,
there were photos from protests in Venezuela a couple years ago
and while the photos of people starving, shot, and run over were haunting
the looks on the faces of the young women who were being carted off separately from the armoured vans of protestors was more haunting
even here in Canada, police abuse their power and sexually exploit the vulnerable
but the Venezuela photos basically told a story of protestors divided up by police on a basis of who they planned to have sex with, willing or not

young man? get on the cart:

young woman? meet your abusers

https://imgur.com/gallery/HjZtm

my hope is for biased reporting of images,
my minimum expectation is that men carted off on motorbikes are not pictured, and it simply has to do with some sort of variation in imprisonment
but worldwide abuse of power by police and state are too rampant for me to think that the best possible outcome is the one that happened

but yeah
if the human race got dissolved away by flesh-eating bacteria
or nuked and irradiated beyond recognition
it would likely be a better fate for us than what we have in store for each other on a person-to-person basis

TL;DR
most horrible thought is just how dark and exploitative humans can be

That's really terrible.

South America has been doing some truly fucked up things in the recent years. Definitely a suppressive culture there from their military police and the all of the gangs Ive read about in that area.

As for living forever i think the great heat death would be the worst possible imaginable way of living.
Death is beautiful end of statement. There is no way death isn’t beautiful, no way around it. No matter how you look at it.
