Mallory said he climbed Everest "because it was there" or whatever. Remember that chap about twenty years ago? I forget his name. Climbed Everest without any oxygen, came down nearly dead. When they asked him, they said why did you go up there to die? He said I didn't, I went up there to live.

Rated the second most dangerous mountain on earth in this list, right behind Annapurna.

https://gearjunkie.com/worlds-10-most-dangerous-mountains

It has a 22% death rate (deaths to summits ratio). 31 climbers died attempting to reach its summit before it was first successfully climbed in the 50's. As of today there has been 82 recorded deaths on the mountain.

They should raise that ugly bastid to the ground.
I wonder what the effect on the climate would be if all the worlds mountains were leveled. :strokebeard:

My nephew climbed Kilimanjaro last year. I guess it’s not a challenging climb - aside from the altitude  - because he’s a bit tubby.

This is considered the deadliest mountain on earth statistically. Annapurna. As far as successful summits to fatalities ratio. 191 successful ascents in history, 61 fatalities. 35% death ratio.

That photo of the "routes" to me is fucking funny. I mean jeezus man, it's a damn wall for fuck's sake.I know these climbers know waaaaaayyyyy more than I do (I know nothing), but it looks like they just picked a spot and said fuck it, go up. And hope you don't fall off the nearly vertical 26,500 foot face of that mountain. Oh yeah not to mention frequent avalanches and ice blocks the size of cars raining down at you. I wonder who the first guy was in history who looked up at that wall and said "you know what that looks fun to climb"

Mount Everest is actually the end of dangerous mountains.  Blizzards can happen any time of year and you could die of frost bite.

I'm going to see Annapurna one day in person. One of the best hiking treks (supposedly) on earth is a 14 to 20 day trek in Nepal called the Annapurna circuit. Takes you through a portion of the Himalayas along a route through villages where it's like going back in time. Ultimately it leads you up to the base camp of Annapurna, the most death defying climb arguably on this earth.

It's on my bucket list to see that beast.
