I have only done one ice climb on Mt. Holy Cross in Colorado. It is totally different than any other type of climb. It was a fun experience, but I prefer to ski and board in the winter and climb in the summer...

i have done both rock climbing and auto racing (professionally on the racing).

i can tell you that there is a hell of alot more to the enjoyment of it than the adrenaline rush...

it is a way to learn about your own mind, your own limits, and to push to the edge, the amount of control you have over your entire destiny.

there's nothing like either one.

Here are a few pictures from our trip to holycross:



We climbed the ice column in the center of the picture. The column is around 1600 feet long, while the mountain is just over 14,000 feet.



Here is my climbing partner as we made our aproach towards the base of the column.



And this is looking back towards notch mountain on the left and jackson on the right, which we had to traverse to make our aproach. The little puddles in the picture are actually lakes.



This is closer to our initial base camp while still down in the trees, only around 11,500 feet or so.

Yeah, adrenaline is only a small part of the equation. A nice one, but a small one... :laugh:

if you look at the word "CLIMB" you'll notice its got the word LIMB in there. It probably was like a saying "Caution ass you can loose a LIMB" just abbreiviated later to hide the true meaning and to get more goof balls to do it
