Knotting/speckles at the sides of the tub normal or not?

I am getting, what I think is knotting (or some kind of pre-knotting maybe) at the sides of the tub, usually some day's before pinning at the top surface of the sub happens. Is it actually knotting and something that is supposed to be happening to a certain degree at the sides of the tub?

I am talking first flush here BTW. I used to think of it as a sign that pinning is coming (at the top of the sub). And it probably is a sign of that. But is it better to not have those knots at the side of the tub? ...something that happens to a greater degree when the top surface conditions aren't optimal? Or is it a good sign? A sign of a sub that is just wanting to pin badly? Are you guy's having the same thing? I hope someone knows what I am talking about :smile:
