Have spent the past 2 or 3 days figuring out what my build and path through Dark Souls is going to be
precisely to avoid this sort of rage :lol:

gotta get myself through Blighttown prolly this evening
then hopefully wrap up Anor Londo in a day or two to get Ornstein's spear
but at least on the Remastered version, Blighttown no longer seems to totally murder frame rate

You only need dragon slayer quest to wear the green d hide body and rune platebody, If you go straight to 50 range then you can just wear blue d hide body without needing to quest. Welcome to the runescape lyfe

Dude, I asked someone exactly that and they said I needed to do the quest for all d’hide, fuck ya, my ranged is already at 46, I’ll just grind out to 50.

Actually avoided them for some time; the constant talk of their difficulty put me off
then watched a bit of a let's play, had a realization that the game is 'just' a really well designed RPG
jumped in myself, and fell in love with the series ever since

have never personally found the gameplay to be overly difficult
but have always approached it from a patient stat-driven RPG view
rather than a timing-based twitch fest
and recognize how character death is implemented as a gameplay mechanic rather than just a 'game over' screen

would say that Dark Souls 3 likely makes a better entry point to the series for new players tho
mechanics of world traversal were made more accessible from the start
Dark Souls 1 has a fantastically designed Metroidvania interconnected world to move through
but backtracking over completed areas is sort of forced in the early game in a way that can feel tedious
