I'm still working on my first batch so this is just an opinion not a really educated suggestion. If I had some bad cakes I'd toss em. It isnt worth the risk of getting sick or worse. I'd say start over dude.

That's a tough call. If all the contams were dispensed with, then covering it up in a warm place with no light until mycelium pokes through is the way to go. Of course, if contams managed to make their way into the new casing, then doing this may promote failure. Covering with warmth is definitely the fastest way to go, if not the safest. It's a judgement call really. To be safe, I would suggest just misting and airing it out a lot. Don't really need light at this point, save that for when the mycelium pokes through. Keeping it around 85F will help, lower the temp as well when mycelium pokes through. I've been there before, I hope it works out for you. Good luck.------------------ -snarf [This message has been edited by snarf (edited July 26, 2000).]

Anywhere from 5 to 10 times a day. It all depends on how much volume of air above the casing there is in your container. I use saran wrap over the containers I use. I remove the saran wrap, fan vigorously, then mist if the casing looks dry. I mist directly if there is no mycelium present and indirectly from a distance if there is some white stuff poking through. Then I replace the saran wrap. I would estimate that you should see growth in about a week. It may take another week before you get pins. At least you're investment will pay off somewhat. Again, happy growing.------------------ -snarf

ok thanx. there was green mold that started to grow in the case (white growth was seen through the soil and i had a bad feeling so i dug down a little and found my green friends) so i took a tiny piece of mycellium that looked completely white. it was about the size of a quarter (it was thicker though) and i dropped it in a bowl filled wit h hydrogen peroxide. i left it in there, dumped it in a bottle of water, then back in the hydrogen peroxide, and then cased it. i know its a long shot, but its my last chacne at growing without going off and buying another print (which i really cant cuz my mom goes through my mail now {damn whore}). wish me luck!------------------ i am not stoned

i had the same problem with a cake i cased.........i didnt re-case it i just dug away all the green i could.......sprayed the shit out of it(bout a 30/70% mixture of peroxcide and water( per.= 30%) and let it sit in the direct sun for bout 3-4 hours...and seared it (the mold )with a hot knife......it all was fine but after the first flush......the mold came back big time......so i tossed it! (didn't have any problems eating the lil guys) but the flush was small.....due to the high consentration of peroxcide.....i guess! ------------------ Sparkey/Gore......2000 [This message has been edited by sidshroom (edited July 27, 2000).]
