Konichiwa-

I have a question. I am going to PC my casing material in mason jars in my cooker for 30 minutes at 15 psi. I wanted to know if I were to add peroxide to the mixture before PCing, would the peroxide break down after all that heat is applied to it? Should I just wait until after I PC my goods? This question applies to adding peroxide to your grain as well, most sites say do it afterwards.

thanks for the feedback shroomerites!

Yes peroxide will break down with heat. If your gonna add it to your jars, do it after you PC and wait until they're cool to the touch.

All grains contain peroxidase enzymes that need to be broken down before adding peroxide to the mix otherwise it will be rendered useless. Luckily though, these enzymes are easily broken down when you PC it so it's all good.

FYI, peroxide will kill spores too so use liquid culture to innoculate your jars.

Peroxidase will breakdown peroxide in anything that hasn't been PC'd.

It's in corn, rice, millet, potatoes, rye, and nearly every other living thing.

If it has been PC'd then it's fine.
