Have you heard of Iboga? * 1
    #25635055 -

I was watching a documentary on Iboga this week and I’m now on a mission to hopefully grow a plant or two myself to add to my collection.

I’m kinda curious if anyone’s tried it before? With the opioid crisis I am really curious if we will see more studies about its reported effects of it being beneficial with addiction and trauma.  There’s mixed reviews on the trip and microdosing effects but I think it’s pretty interesting.

What do y’all think?
This articles author identifies it helps regrow brain cells, rather he’s refering to new synapse pathways forming...but it’s an interesting read.

Dmt and maois. I'm confused as to why you think this is a discovery.

I didn’t think it was a ‘discovery’, I just never heard about it and so I kinda thought maybe other people hadn’t either?  I asked if anyone’s tried any of it, so it’s not like I didn’t expect people to give me a little insight. No ones tryna shit in anyone’s cereal here  :failure:

Did quite a bit of reading on it once. I'm fascinated, and would definitely try.

I looked at both doing it at home or visiting a ceremony. Given what I read from trip reports, the latter sounds preferable.

The most salient thing I recall about the experience is that it is not a recreational one. The only I've tried that I consider similar is DMT, but this sounds way more intense. It sounded like the kind of trip that brings you straight face to face with your issues and holds you there until you've somehow resolved to do something about them. The kind of thing you really gotta be ready for, so having someone with you with firsthand experience seems a necessity.

I imagine it's incredibly profound. When I first heard of it it was amongst a wave of reports about how it was having miraculous results on curing long term, chronic addictions.

I especially love the fact it's apparently the only naturally growing psychedelic in Africa, which is arguably the birthplace of our species.

Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

Ibogaine used in clinics seems to be poor for recreational use but the iboga root itself has eleven other alkaloids and in small quantities said that it had other uses.  In one article I was reading about its ability to help promote serotonin production.  I’m fascinated because one the spiritual trip would be enlightening and two low serotonin in people with depression can become chronic. Being able to potentially boost serotonin production safely long term as part of a plan to alleviate this like the gym, therapy etc could help a lot of people.  I mean I like to get high but also, I’ve seen people who have chronic depleted serotonin from types of habitual drug use even.  It just kinda seemed awesome to me.
