I rescued a 2 year old blue heeler/border collie while already having 2 cats.

It's been an adjustment period and I have to watch him closely at times but he's been very good.  One of the cats was very accepting and not scared at all.  The other, well, he just wants to not be bothered or the dog will catch a smack to the snout.

It's been great overall though.  If our dog stays exercised he's not much of a problem and has never once actually tried to hurt one of them.  He plays rough though so he's learning to be gentle with them

My dog respects the cats. He knows they will just slap him if he gets out of line, and he's always about the only one not laughing when they get stuck. Sometimes he plays with the Zeus dude but other than that they just mind their own. I'd never worry about leaving them alone together in the house by any means. I'm pretty confident my dog would gladly eat whatever would mess with them really.

My dog would likely kill a cat.

She's a working terrier.

three dogs, and four three (as of two days ago), cats. 

once i taught the dogs that cat is never on the menu, everything's peaches and cream.

I kinda, maybe, encourage mine to go for the neighbors cat when it shits in our yard.

She'll never get it, but the cat doesn't know that!

Dog loves cat.
Cat is usually, mostly, tolerant of dog.
They both get very jealous when the other receives attention or treats.
