The Doors - The movie

I just saw it and yes, the movie is good, but I have a whole differant perception of Jim Morisson now. I used to think of him as a genius at lyrics, and I thought there was something special to him.
But seeing the movie I'm left with an impression of Jim Morisson as an annoying old drunk... :shake:

Do so many artists have to end up that way... :confused:

unfortunatly jim morrison was a spoild rich dick
but he made some great music
so hes ok with me

I think the movie really gives a fair portrayal of Jim... showing how he slid from poet extrordinaire to alcoholic. I read a great article somewhere about the making of their last album (the Soft Parade), explaining how Jim was so drunk that most of the songs were pieced together from whatever decent takes they could record.

Yes, the movie gave a fair portrayal of him it would suck if the movie glorified him with no truth...

Another thing that got me is how he used psychedelics. I thought he was wise about it, but he was drunk and on acid all-the-time, at least it seems so. The band held good shows though!

I've heard one song since Jim died, its called, "I'm horny, I'm stoned", I guess that song can give you an idea of how they sound like now, if you can download it or get a hold of it somehow.
I like it though.

I first seen that movie 10 years ago, it is really good, I seen the last half of that movie one time on LSD !!

spoiled rich, he was not... a dick to somepeople, sure.... but who isnt..
that movie was a very one sided portrayal of his life, all they focused on was the bad times... there were many many good times too

or something along the lines of that.

the man, I'm pretty sure its a doors song but it might be taken from Van Morison or something...

If the movie is one sided I'm curious as to how the brighter side was. Though I guess it contains alot of good trips :smile:

"LA Woman" was The Doors last album. SP was their third to last.

"I'm Horney, I'm Stoned" was from one of the two "Doors" albums that the other members put out after his death in the 70's. I haven't heard it and I don't really want to that bad.

I bought a cassette tape of the doors after he died and it wasnt bad musically but it didnt have Morrisons voice so it was very lacking...

I think they'd have a whole lot more credibility if they hadn't called themselves "The Doors".

Anyone ever read "None here gets out alive" the Jim Morrison biography, I really feel like the writer of the screenplay had to've read it, there were just little things that were so similar, I mean obviously the story was the same, but I mean like little subtleties that were just very similar..hard to explain..it was the best written biography, but it was a good stor none the less.
