It's a pretty decent movie. Val Kilmer does a great Jim Morrison.

I agree Val Kilmer was a good pick although a lot of people will state that Oliver Stone only represented the bad side of Jim Morrison in the movie.

Apparently they were going to use Ian Astbury (who was the lead singer for The Cult) but he declined. I believe that Ian has now taken Jim Morrisons place as the singer for The Doors.

Ray said he needed to be fucking more chicks in the movie. I think that's his primary reason for disliking it.

Ian Astbury was the lead singer for...The Cult!~

Ian Astbury's voice has always reminded me of Jim Morrison.

I wasn't shocked when he went out on the Road with the other members of the Doors.

Couple songs off the old Cult album have a Morrison flavor to them...

Especially... "Fire Woman".

Yes you're right I'll edit it now. I always get those too mixed up since I don't really listen to either of them. But The Doors rule.

From what I've read the Doors movie totally removed any context of Jim Morrison being intelligent, creative, funny and often times a real gentleman.

The movie portrayed him as only a drugged out, drunken sociopathic loon (which, at times he was).

That wasn't the COMPLETE story, however.

"Break on Through: The Life and Death of Jim Morrison" was one of the best books on Jim I have ever read.
