What did you lose everything to? Trich?

Problem with trich is as soon as you open the tub and see it has gone green and is sporulating you've already unleashed a plume of evil spores into the air.

I need to look into the whole shoebox thing I keep seeing it mentioned and have no idea what it is! I've been too busy trying to perfect my unmodified monotubs!

I like to keep life and growing as simple as possible but as effective as possible and I'm having so much success with unmodified monotubs put straight into fruiting after spawning.

I'm also in the process of setting up my outdoor psilocybe cyanescens patch :smile: It's colonising masses of spawn at the moment. Have some tasty alder woodchips for it. Also I spent a good two hours chopping loads of hardwood logs I foraged yesterday. Come next autumn I hope all of this is going to pay off with some cyanescens because it sounds so easy! They come back year after year! Sounds perfect.

Trich is my enemy #1. I dig the little shoeboxes. I can get a 10 pack of them for 8 bucks. My only negative comment about them is you have to dub tub them for the taller variety cubes to give em a little headroom. That's really a non issue even.

Good luck on the cyans! Those are completely foriegn to me. I've heard they are strong AF.

Little tip you may find helpful for the smaller tubs when you need more headroom.

I collect plastic tubs that they use at supermarkets to package fruit etc in. Whenever I see a plastic tub that is 3-4" deep I wash it and keep it to one side. I use those to have smaller grows going on as well as my monotubs.

Rather than double tubbing I just use see-through plastic bags and pop the tub inside and just leave the top of the bag open. It gets really nice and humid inside and the bags I use are large autoclave bags that I use for the pressure cooker for grain.

Basically those large autoclave bags have a double use and I've found they're great for that. So they'd probably work for your shoebox. Win-win. They're pretty cheap too

Then you have a further free tub to grow more shrooms in. Hurray!

Shit man, I've never messed with bags. I hear they can be a bitch inside a SAB. I'm thinking about finally jumping into real petri dishes instead of rocking the pasty plates.

There's absolutely no need to do anything autoclave bag-associated inside a SAB in my experience. I've never had any issues. As long as you maintain a good sterile technique when inoculating then there shouldn't be any issues. Honestly it's so much better than using jars. Give it a go one time and see if you get converted!

I've just bought my first ever 30 petri dishes, scalpel, agar agar, LME etc. Everything I need for petri dish work. I've only used MS so far and I keep seeing mushrooms I like and thinking I need to use them to produce isolates I like. It's definitely time I start with it!

There are so many layers to this hobby I love it so, so much!

Beeing a moderator /co-admin of a big & serious computergraphics -forum for more than a decade I tend to sound harsh and often state that walls of text aren't welcomed in any internet forum.. no matter what it's about.

LincolnCityTripper gives good advice and I like /agree whith what he writes most of the time.
Serious advice should not disappear in walls of text that many people don't read. Better use paragraphs. That's all I wanted to say.

Besides, I think I put my words somehow friendly.. didn't want to sound rude at all. I'm sorry, didn't want to offend anyone in any way.

I'm growing some PEs myself at the moment btw. They already started to fruit. Only five very small knobs /pins for now, but I think they are comming.. :sun:
Took them more than three weeks to start fruiting. Sounds normal, right?

Hey Panda I appreciate the kind words man and I know I need to be way more on top of the punctuation and paragraphs for sure just some times I get going to fast in my thoughts and what I want to type out and I dont want to forget what im thinking when I just need to slow down and gather my thoughts and take my time.

I was more confused and I thought it came off a bit rude because I enjoy your posts and out of all the people on here you are one that i actually stop and take the time to read what you have to say. And when you came at me with the "immature/noob" comment It frazzled me a little.

I tend to agree with alot of your opinions as well so It confused me and I was kind of like hmmmm? does this guy really not like what I have to say?
I didn't quite understand why it bothered you so much but it makes more sense now that I know your occupation.
Anyway I have no hard feelings towards you and never did, im just glad to know that you dont dislike my posts because thats what I was thinking was going on but thank you for clarifying and I will definitely work on my typing skills which im well aware of even before you mentioned it yesterday.

Have you ever tried wood lovers? Cyanescens, Azurecens etc those are more on the DMT level in terms of how strong they are but PE just feels like a very strong cubensis to me :shrug: but of course thats just me.
PE's are definitely hella strong but Azurecens and Cyanescens are on a whole other level of potency.

Which would roughly translate to about 2X the potency of standard cubes, on average. Would that be a correct statement? At least that's what is being reported, in any case
