I've been in a couple interviews where the ass hole conducting the interview asks that stupid ass question.

I just tell them my honesty or kindness is often taken advantage of.

I’ve had an interview go sour when asked why I don’t join the military. I was being interviewed for kitchen position and did not know what’s to say besides I did not want to be deployed to fight in a war I didn’t believe is right.

He got all offended starting saying a bunch of shit about Iraq and afghanistan being a threat to national security. Gave me a dirty look and sent me out the door when I told him that nobody involved in 9/11 came from Iraq or Afghanistan.

The frustration I felt at the time is hard to express.

A good answer is to let interviewers know how you're working on your weakness and/or how you'd compensate for it.

We all have weaknesses. Any interviewer will immediately be able to see that "I work too hard" or "I'm a perfectionist" is a bullshit answer.

The knee jerk response to "i work too hard" is "then you're overqualified."


Pick a genuine weakness you have that is embarrassing yet relevant, and speak CONFIDENTLY about it.

That shows cojones AND honesty.

I’d change it up when you answer. I’d say something like “I could improve...”, but I don’t like that word weakness. I view weakness as a result of a lack of motivation or knowledge. I would even say that in an interview. I slay interviews personally though. They really just want you to be yourself and confident.

Yeah. Apparently I'm in the minority here, but I think a well-formed response to this question can reveal a lot about an employee. It takes a level of maturity and self-assessment to identify areas that can improve.
