Good advice badchad. I have always found that the body and mind falls into a rhythm. Establish a rhythm and the mind/body will start to like it. What was different becomes the new normal.

Don’t have a kid.

Hey, this kind of “you can’t be tired if you don’t have a kid” gatekeeping bullshit is a real bad look.  Especially when your kid is mostly raised by family/babysitters, haha.  But yeah, you can not have a kid and be tired as hell too.  Parents don’t have a monopoly on tired.

Do you have kids?

If not, you have no idea the sleep deprivation they cause.

I have a 4 month old, and I've found the deprivation is as bad as everyone says, and mom does the most work.

To get back on topic, I started getting up early about a decade ago (5am-ish). I've come to enjoy mornings with the sun coming up etc.

Congrats on the newborn!  I definitely remember the sleep deprivation of those early months, it’s tough.  And then even when they are sleeping through the night, a new set of challenges is presented.  It’s a lot to deal with sometimes, but I hope you’re enjoying it.  Those infant days are actually pretty awesome.

Parents can get tired and worn out pretty bad, but our sleeplessness doesn’t invalidate a non-parents.  Anyone can be very exhausted.  That’s the whole point I was trying to make.

Parental tiredness is some crazy stuff.... I remember waking up to feed my kiddo and I eventually propped myself up so good in a slanted position to feed where we were both comfy and safe and would end up sleeping with him that way after feeding with my boobs out. Just straight up no cares, I was too exhausted. If he was hungry again after we drifted off in that position, food was right there and would wake me up. I know alot of doctors and nurses claim that it's not good for the baby to sleep with you, but I can't tell you how many times my kid has slept on my chest during his first year.

On the main topic of getting up early. I hate it. I consider myself to be a huge night owl still, even after years of early morning shifts (getting up at 4:30-6am, or normal 8am). I can still tell that I will get a more focused drive late at night when I am supposed to be going down for bed. I found waking up way more earlier than your usual time, if you have to wake up early, helps tremendously. Such as waking up at 5:30-6, when you have to wake up at 730-8am. Maybe it's a learned military brat thing, but it actually helps alot to be able to fully wake up before you have to wake up and face the day. Plus you can lounge around and take your time getting ready. I dunno, alot of my getting up early experiences in my life is literally rolling out of bed at the latest possible minute I can get. I don't wear makeup and I shower at night, so I get up, get dressed and ready, then head out the door. I only do that getting up way earlier thing when I have my shit... like more together in life.

I've been getting up before the sun for decades, even after I retired.
I love that special darkness before dawn, my favorite time to dose.

I got up early to get plasma donation out of the way.

Didn't try, I just woke up and thought it would be good to just get up and get it done because it is not any different if I wait and I am over half way done and started before 8

Excuse me?

Firstly, I was pretty obviously just joking around, I think you knew that but saw an opportunity to be mean and took it.
Secondly, you don’t know the first thing about what you’re talking about, so please dont.
What you said was pretty rude and not very cash money at all.

I sort of have been doing that. If I need to be somewhere by 11:00 for example. I will wake up at 9:15 so that I have 45 minutes to lay in bed before getting up, 30 minutes in the shower, and 30 minutes to get there and be a little early. Is that what you're talking about.

Look up diurnal and circadian rhythms. I am a "night" owl by nature, but I have learned to sleep early due to a job as well. If the money and the job is right, you'll adjust.

I wake up around 8am everyday, but every single night I have the feeling that I'm not satisfied yet with all my accomplishments for the day and i have to stay up just a little longer to get that last bit of juice of waking life. I manage to convince myself to bed at around 1 - 2am every night.

I think you are blowing this out of proportion.  Switch to your schedule and keep to it and your body will adjust.  You will sleep like shit for awhile then it will natural happen.

I have worked all different shifts at different times and they all have up and down sides to them.

I think the main issue is you "want" rather than doing what you "must" after a few days with insufficient rest you will sleep.

Also what high school let you sleep till 9am?

You are exactly the type of untrustworthy individual OP was talking about.

WHY DON'T YOU JUST DRINK SOME HOT MILK AND MEDITATE, BRAH? IT'S NOT HARD, DAWG. JUST GO TO SLEEP WHENEVER YOU WANT, BRO.

I also had to trick myself from hitting snooze too many times. I use my phone as an alarm and put it across the room so I HAVE to get up to turn it off, then I'm up and go about my day.

I often have to take 5mg valium to get to sleep if I must before 3am.

Me neither, but I fucking despise laying there, trying to get to sleep, unable to, whilst my sleeping time is steadily decreasing.

It's why I've done shift work the vast majority of my life. Getting up at six am is not for me.

However, needs must at this point of my life.
