Tool is the best forever, they do not even need to put out more music to be considered so, one of the best alternative metal bands ever.

To answer op, Maynard is a very busy man with several bands and his winery also his band mates have other bands they play for too. Lots of distractions including a lawsuit against tool have prevented new music. Maynard likes to have the music done first before recording the lyrics. If APCs new album eat the elephant is any indication of Tools future album, I have a feeling it will be real good.

If you guys ever noticed the band made its first 3 albums in reasonable times...10,000 days took a lot longer, as someone who has seen them and listened to every song, I personally thought they had lost "it" that being whatever you think it is, what I mean by that is that conjuring of energy by each band member to produce what is tool. Maynard has been singing his ass away with puscifer and new perfect circle album so no problem there, it could just be that the actual music itself is having problems manifesting again.

tool socks really bad. I used to think they were good till I heard about thier live shows and jus lost all respect for them. what a travesty to music. :nonono:

was floor for Tool in Montréal for 10 000 Days tour
had 3 or 4 pot brownies before they show and got some joints in to smoke during the performance
laser show was pretty cool, good energy at the show and solid enough performance but not enormously spectacular
enjoyed myself, and would definitely see them live again
typically find them to be better on-album tho; particularly with how well the songs flow together as a whole
compared to playing hits from several different albums

it's not even jus that they suck live cuz they're such a polished studio sound. they flat dont jam even tho all their songs are potential huge jam vehicles. but they lit play the same setlist city to city the entire tour. hell they only play like a handful of songs live. most bands I listen to will often play to a 3 show or even 5 show arch n it leads to some incredibly complex stylists and jams. took doesn't do any of this. u lit night as well sit at home n listen to the album with headphones cuz a live show will jus be shitty. forget about following them around on tour LOL :flowstone:

Why did they suck live? I saw them in 2017 and they were really good. Only complaint is they played the same set list at every show from what i gathered but when your songs are so complex i understand having to stick to the ones youve rehearsed.

they're not complex they're hella polished n structured. they clearly dont have the balls or musical talent to jam off on their songs that would be clearly very easy to jam. the show are so choreographed and rehearsed that they can't even put together creative setlist night to night LOL. I mean is that the best band in the world? not for my money. look up a band like chili peppers album and they're so good but then listen to them live n ull be like whoa these guys are like insane musicians. same thing with all the greats. the albums are catchy and good for radio play but the live they lit blow ur mind.

I think their live shows sorta peaked in the early 2000s, you can tell, like you said when a band is really going out of their way for a live show vs a band that is not. Regardless their recorded music is as good as it gets.

I'd prob kill myself. think bout it. play the same show night to night for like at least 10 years knowing they can't stop it because all the millions of dollars and everyone families in the whole companies livelihood is tied to it. so u have to go on and find yourself over a decade later sitting in fucking Nebraska and listen to ur mouthbreathing fans talk about how complex and amazing the show was for lit the millionth time.
