In this guide he says "If using a bigger jar you wont need to birth the cake at all because there's no dry verm barrier. Just add some verm to the top and moisten it"

I'm using pint jars, and I put verm to the 1 cup (half pint) mark, should I remove a little bit and put some dry verm on there?

Also just to confirm, i'm supposed to do the squeeze test after adding the BRF, correct? The guide says "take two cups of verm and place it in the mixing container" then it has a quote about adding the brown rice flower because it absorbs water, then it shows proper field capacity...  then it says to add the water and BRF. I'm a little unsure if i'm supposed to test it before or after I add the BRF.

Yes you test field capacity after all ingredients are added.

As far as that first quote goes I don't know what he's trying to say. I think he's referring actual to there not being a dry verm layer when you use filter-lids like for grains.

If you're making brown rice cakes you need to use a dry verm layer. I don't know what bod was thinking when he wrote that because it doesn't make sense.

Should I leave the jars in the pot all day? Or should I remove them from the pot tomorrow morning and put them in a different container?

Use a dry verm layer for PF cakes. Thats the standard method and it is required to prevent infections on the cake.

The classic recipe for BRF. You use a dry verm barrier for BRF not for grains. And you use 1/2 pint jars for BRF, and Quart jars for grains.
