Was robbed tonight

It was about an hour ago. I got back home, saw nothing suspicious, pulled into the driveway and got out. Soon as I did 2 guys tackled me from behind and knocked me down. It was 2 black guys around 20 or 25. I fought with them but one put something against the back of my head and said he would blow my brains out. It felt like the barrel of a gun so I quit fighting. They got my wallet, small cash, and my car key also house keys on it. By luck my phone fell out right away and when they didn't find it on me they quit and ran. I found it on the ground

I immediately called in and cancelled my credit cards. New ones are on the way. My driver's licence has to be replaced, also my serve card but there is only $15 on it and they don't know the pin. My gas cards are gone of course along with the cash about $500 altogether. I have to go down to the car dealer tomorrow to get my keys changed. Luckily I had a spare and can still drive. I will change locks on my house tomorrow and have the doors braced shut tonight just in case. I will alert the bank that my debit card and id are stolen, will get a new one.

Any other precautions I should take? I'm taking a benzo tonight, I think its called for.

That really sucks.  It sounds like you're doing the right things.  You said you had "small cash" but you lost "about $500".  How much cash did you have in your wallet?  I wonder if they saw you open your wallet somewhere?

I might also file a police report, but I guess it's up to you and whether you want to deal with the cops and whether you think they would do anything in your town.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

I had about 80 in small cash and about 300 or so in wallet. I never flash my wallet cash. Thats what the small bankroll is for. I just got back from going to a mcdonalds the guy didn't show up or I would have had more cash on me.

I can't id them it was dark, no way to get fingerprints. Luckily I was not hurt, they did not land anything on me that I can tell. A couple minor scratches and my back aches a bit from when I was tackled from behind and knocked to the concrete. I rolled quite a bit, started to get up but they were double teaming and then came the gun which I did not see but was not about to find out the hard way, felt like a gun barrel. I read every week one or more people getting robbed in a similar way and get shot or killed. My phone was about 6 feet away in the overgrown grass just looked like a black nothing. It they took that then I'm in even more trouble. If they had a gun they could have stolen the car and made me take money out of atm's

I disabled the car in case they get the bright idea of coming back and stealing it. Have a doctors appt tomorrow, have to get new locks for the door and for the car, get my bank account secure. Also have to go down to city hall to straighten up some blunder a clerk must have made. All that tomorrow plus the dealer is about 20 miles away. It was a nice wallet too.

Yes, I agree but a gun does you no good if its sitting in the car. and you are not. Law here says you must make 2 moves to get the gun or its illegal. Plus in that case I had no chance. They may have been hiding behind the recycle bin or the big trash barrel, saw somone pull in and snuck up behind, maybe ducking down so I don't see in the rear view. I opened the door, they must have been right in back of the car and charged me from behind soon as I started to stand up. A gun in my car does me no good if I'm out of the car, a gun in my pocket has to be pulled out first and when your first clue  that something is wrong comes as they slam into you taking me to  the ground. I was not done fighting and not sure but I think I landed a few, I was mostly on my back so nothing major. One of them seemed to have a problem with his mouth when he tried to talk.

So they got the drop on me and 20 guns would do me no good at that point. A gun in my back pocket is just more loot for the dirtbags. If you see them coming, have time to get your gun ready and get the drop on them, then you are gold but that mostly happens in the movies. They don't tell you about all the heroes who got killed or crippled because they made it clear they were going to keep fighting. Maybe he just shoots me in the arm or leg that is way worse than what I lost and you can die from that too. I had a little something in the car, I did but never had a chance to even think about it let alone reach for it. Armed robbers practice these things over and over and the smarter ones who learned in prison tell the younger ones how to do it and get away.

Sorry to hear that Stone, but I would consider yourself very lucky tonight, it could have turned out much worse.

Material items and money are all replaceable, your life and body are an entirely different story. The most damage in this case will most likely be psychological in nature.

Exactly right, I'm already thinking about that. It was a relatively small amount, around 300 or 350 cash, my small bankroll of 80 or so, just spent over 50 out of it this morning. Had maybe 100 or a little more in gas cards, plus a subway card and codes for free stuff at panera

I am very glad first of all not to be hurt, nothing serious at all that I can detect. Secondly it was not a lot of cash I would fight to the end to keep. Might have ended up being the end indeed. Lucky it was not enough cash to make a serious dent and the other things are minor too. I am calmly going over in my mind what to do in the morning. I will report my dl lost, try to report gas cards stolen but I think that is a dead end.

I've been robbed or attempted robbed before so this was not as bad as some other times and I didn't lose that much. 5 bills and some inconvenience are not much. No bones broken, no cuts, might be a few bruises but I dont' see them

Next time I get out of a car I will damn sure pay attention to what is around me. I try to anyway, there were some bushes the other side of the alley but I looked that way and my lights illuminated that area. Pulled into the alley did not notice anything but there could have been a couple of them a ways down or hiding. They see me pull in and come up, wait and strike

My arms are feeling stiff now and a little sore, more so in the morning no doubt. There will be a psychological price to pay as well. But I keep telling my self it won't happen again I will be watching there, at the store most anyplace where there aren't a lot of people around. I started yelling hoping they would get scared and take off but the guy said twice he would shoot me and put the barrel against my head. What should I do sunshine, put a kung fu move on him and dare him to shoot? I got off cheap, in a way if you want to call that cheap. My license is due to be renewed this year anyway. Its  a 6 year licence.

It might do some good to report it, maybe get more patrols in our neighborhood, ya think?

I beieve I will. Still a little upset despite the benzo and my tough guy attitude. I've been hurt way worse than that and lost a ton more than that. Its like #117 on the list. But its not like losing on the stock market or bitcoin, its in your face personal with death threats.

Maybe an outdoor light connexted to a motion detector? Those things are the cats meow. They walk up to the house very stealthy, suddenly the lights go on and its not dark any more. Is someone aiming a gun at them? Better run. That is better than lights which are always on. THey don't know if you are home or not but someone turned the light on. Security cameras would help too.

Where do you think the two guys were hiding? You should get some security cameras really cheap with the phone application that lets you watch them. That way for the next 6 months you can look at the cameras before you go home or get out of your car.

Yeah I was thinking about that. But a light that brightens up the alley when movement is detected is a great deterrant. Neighbors see it go on and wonder if its a prowler. Bad guy sees it go on and says oh shit! someone must be onto me. Even if they are sure no one is in the house, the simple fact that they are bathed in light makes them very nervous. Anyone could be looking and caling the cops

They could not have been following me because I turned in and no one was behind me. I think they were looking for easy pickings, they see a car pull in, they want to make a quick grab and go. The guy with the gun said get his phone, they wanted that. I said it fell out, not sure why I said it, maybe hoping they will go look for it and I can take care of the other guy. He must have thought the same thing so he said no it didnt. Then his buddy said he doesn't have a phone so they got wallet, cash and keys

That sucks to hear, brother.  I hope the police catch the fuckers, if you did wind up filing a report.  You were smart for cancelling your credit cards right away.  Maybe they will try to use one of them and the card company can then notify the police as to the location.  Glad to hear you are not more severely injured, but I am sure you are quite upset about having that much money stolen from you.  I once had a vehicle stolen from me and it was never found again.  I felt physically ill because of how much money I spent on it.  Anyhow, I hope you feel better, man.

Thanks asc and mighty white. The property can be replaced but dead is dead and and an injury could be much worse than what I lost. There was a streetlight there and I yelled but naturally no one was walking by. I'm going to get a light that goes on when it sees motion, maybe a couple of them. I talked to the cop this morning and he recommended cameras.

I'm stiff and sore all over, we had quite a tussle but I was not going to call his bluff about the gun. We found where they hid behind a barrel and then jumped out
