I think the tens/hundreds/thousands of thousands of years of evolution that led us to this point would argue that ketogenesis is a useful state that should be taken advantage of from time to time.

I'm not a super health expert, but I know excess sugar or fat both aren't that great for you. Keto just sounds like going overboard with fat. Complex carbs are not some evil thing it's the refined sugar they cram into everything. A person with a diet of starches and vegetables, low fat, and low added sugar should feel great and will lose plenty weight. The body can operate on fat in theory, and that may have been a diet of early man like dude says, but doesn't it thrive on glucose?

I think you are right that too much fat is bad, however, keto, for me, means no sugar and carbs. My body has fat to eat, and I don't need to eat copious amounts.

I thrive off meth too. Don't need to eat or drink for days yet I'm fucking superman.

Does that mean it's a good thing?

Mr. Wiccan said it's bogus in this very thread, so it's more than likely bogus.

I think it's also worth noting the following:

Without fat or protein, the body WILL die.

Without carbs, the body WILL NOT die.

Being healthy is about balance. That means you can push hard sometimes if you push back the other way too.

Yes. Asante was right in saying tht we need glucose. However he is wrong to think we need to ingest glucose in order to get it.

Big difference

Yeah, that was my confusion.

I forgot the body can make glucose from non glucose "substrates". Love how that wiki article used cultivation terminology.

If memory serves, Asante is not the picture of ideal health. No offense Asante. I just know that people are biased in their perspective at times.

My doctor, well trained and old-school, has even recommended the benefits of keto diet and intermittent fasting.

I don't really care what you choose to do, but it's a fallacy that you NEED glucose. I also have found it odd how the bible chooses to talk about oils so much! Perhaps that's silly.

Bye.

I should also mention.

It surely feels like your body needs carbs during the first couple days of a keto-type diet, but that subsides when your addition is "over", and the fat burning feels like mental clarity and energy.

Keto allows many vegetables, and I believe in a balanced lifestyle. Lazy keto (eating up to 50 grams or so) may be up your alley even if you don't go full "keto".

bye, fer real.

Primarily, keto improves heart health, liver health and pancreas health. No more sugar to deal with. It's a big burden lifted off the digestive system.

For some people, that three day period is hard enough to immediately go back to sugar. It's a very strong addiction for some people. I have an aunt that cannot live without her two candy bars a day. She got liposuction a few years back. She's still eating candy bars. She'll eat them until she dies. She's never going to kick the habit... I know her enough to know...

yeah... it's useful in that it allows us to survive periods of starvation... i'll remember that the next time i am uh, starving. or i mean, i guess i won't have to, because my body will remember it for me.

IMO, this is what you need for the change in conscious state to occur.

Getting enough hormetic compounds (Resveratrol, curcumin from turmeric, EGCG, Sulfurophane, etc...) is really important too.

Tell me why you think so. I'm just curious to see your rationale.

I've experienced the positive effects for myself. It's the main thing I try to get from my diet and has been the most effective thing in changing my consciousness for the better

As for rational explanation. One thing is that hormetic compounds like the ones I just listed increase amounts of Anandamide (The brains endogenous THC) as well as other neurotransmitters that help with depression. Also, hormetic compounds sensitize receptors in your brain, so that your brain is releasing more serotonin, cannabinoids, dopamine, etc... So there is a reverse tolerance to the positive effects meaning it feels better and better.

It also helps prevent drug tolerance. There are studies showing curcumin, resveratrol, and others preventing opiate and amphetamine tolerance. But it also applies to any other drug since they sensitize all receptors.

Also I have the desire to exercise way more when I get them in my diet.
