Legal Psychoactive Herbs
    #25067904 -

I have a very strong interest in psychoactive plants and what makes them psychoactive. I've recently been experimenting with various legal herbs such as wild dagga, maconha brava, passionflower, mugwort, blue lotus, damiana, kava, and others. So far I've only really enjoyed the effects of smoking blue lotus, which did put me in a dreamlike state for about an hour. Several of my friends even tried blue lotus and said it worked for them too.

My first question is, does anyone know some legal herbs that are definitely psychoactive and produce noticeable effects? And if so, what are they? Can you briefly describe the effects if you know what they are? Also, what in the plant makes it psychoactive?

My second question is would it be possible to selectively breed a certain plant to produce higher levels of a psychoactive substance? For example, wild dagga (Leonotis leonurus) contains leonurine, which is the psychoactive alkaloid responsible for creating the high when smoked. How would one even approach selectively breeding plants and be able to analyze the levels of leonurine in the plants? The goal would be to keep increasing the levels of leonurine in the plants over generations.

go out to your local forest and look at the plants there. Try to identify them and if you are up to it consume them in small amounts to see if it has any active properties. you may find a new gem doing this. post back your results here.

you can buy christian ratsch book.

Well it depends a lot on where you live.
Psychoactive plants have suffered from many bans and regulations put there by stupid people who not find out for themselves what it´s really about.
So many psychoactive plants are regulated and the regulations change depending on where you live.
Peyotes are illegal in the USA but legal pretty much elsewhere.
Trichocereus cactus family has many types also containing mescaline, is legal, and are even better as they grow faster and gives more mescaline if grown.
Mescaline really works and have a strong effect, be careful.

Then you have the Mitragyna Speciosa ie. kratom.
It also works very good and have a effect witch is a combination of opiate down and stimulating.
Its also legal in most places.

Another strong psychoactive plant is Salvia Divinorum.
It contains Salvinorin A & Salvinorin B, witch is one of the most potent psychoactive substances known to man.
Salvia D is legal in the US i think and most countries but not mine in northern Europe.

Then we have the plants who contain DMT.
This is a compound with effects like no no other.
It´s one of the most hallicugenic compounds existing and it really takes one to another worlds and encounters with mind beeings.
Cant be explained, must be experienced to understand this one.
Many plants contain DMT, for example Psychotria Viridis, almost all Mimosa types of trees, Mimosa Hostillis and many more.
They are somtimes combines with an MAOI from another plant as DMT cant be eaten otherwise.
These brews are called Ayahuska.

There are many more, you better read some books about it.

If you want concentrate compounds found in plants you must either make an extraction or try some kind of plant breeding to develop plants that are stronger.
Plant breeding is very time consuming, hard and sending sampels for testing is very expensive so do a extraction instead i would say.

Funny thing is, when I was a few years younger I actually did go to the local forest and took home some plants and dried them out and smoked them but felt nothing. I guess it must take a while to find a good one lol. But your idea is good though, because the only true way I'll find something psychoactive is to test it myself.

I actually read a science article about different plants in the Salvia genus that contained relatively high levels of Salvinorin A and I was thinking about growing them (because they're legal) since Salvia divinorum the plant is illegal in my state.

DMT is also very interesting to me, but I don't know how to go about doing it.

The net is full of info about DMT and how to go about with them.

And regarding Salvia D, yes there are other salvias.
However Salvorin comes in 2 versions, A and B.
Only one of them is active, the other dont work.
So read up on it.

Here is a good one for you.

Look into Scutellaria nana(dwarf skullcap)

The stuff is supposed to be stronger than normal skullcap. It is hard to find though. It grows in the northern cali desert I think and maybe in australia. If you live near a place where they have it you should find it. first try vaping the petals. then move onto other parts maybe like the stems, roots ETC. if vaping seems ok go for a low oral dose and it build up from there.

here it is

https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=AwrE1xzI8KxaTkgALkdXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTE0NnJqMDBzBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDQjQ1MTdfMQRzZWMDcGl2cw--?p=Scutellaria+nana&fr2=piv-web&fr=mcafee#id=7&iurl=https%3A%2F%2Fs-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com%2F736x%2F8f%2F69%2Fb8%2F8f69b818ac62403ba010a5c563e580bc.jpg&action=click

make sure it is this one or at least looks very similar to this. there are so many subspecies of skullcap that you may be consuming the wrong one that is not psychoactive. It is quite sedating apparently.

If you do not live close to it try to talk to some plant experts from your local area. They may be able to hook you up with a seed source/supplier . be careful though as some people sell not Scutellaria nana seed but they claim it is.

maybe it is not that good or maybe it is very good, who knows. THere are promising reports though but maybe they are exagerated.

I would do this myself if i had the time.

please report back with your findings if you plan to pursue this.

goodluck

I did hear about Scutellaria nana and I was really interested in trying it because apparently it rivals even cannabis in its effects. I will definitely try to get some seeds and grow it myself and then test it and keep you all updated.

Unless your willing to risk serious harm to your body or death don't just go into the woods and collect plants to et or smoke. That sounds almost as bad of an idea as eating mushrooms with. No knowledge as to what they are.

I spoke to someone who used it before. They said it was not as good as cannabis but that it was way way better than a lot of other legal highs out there and that it was defineately psychoactive. I am hoping for something similar in potency as kava or perhaps maybe even a little stronger.

I was gifted some Kanna (sceletium tortuosum) a while ago, and I expected it to not do much, but to my surprise it works, and I really like the effects.
It's legal over here, but I have no clue about its legality in the US. My guess is that it's probably not legal, but I really have no clue.
I tried putting it in a beverage and drinking it, snorting it, and if I remember correctly I also tried smoking it.
Snorting it has my preference, probably because it starts working right away and smoking or drinking it is not that pleasant because of the taste.
Or maybe because I never snorted any psychoactive substances in my life so it was funny to finally snort something.
It seems pretty harmless, unless you're mixing it with ssri's or mao inhibitors afaik, as Kanna supposedly is an sri itself.
but of course you should do your own research on the potential harms before you're going to try this out if you care about using psychoactive substances in a responsible manner.

If you're interested in it just read the wikipedia page on it, I'm sure it does a better job of explaining it than what I'm capable of with my limited experience with the substance. It doesn't seem to mention anything about ssri's or maoi's though.

History

Sceletium tortuosum's flower

The plant has been used by South African pastoralists and hunter-gatherers as a mood-altering substance from prehistoric times.[4] The first known written account of the plant's use was in 1662 by Jan van Riebeeck. The traditionally prepared dried Sceletium was often chewed and the saliva swallowed, but it has also been made into gel caps, teas and tinctures. It has also been used as a snuff and smoked.[5]

Uses

Sceletium tortuosum being sold commercially in Cape Town, South Africa in March 2014. The Sceletium is ground up into a brown powder and typically ingested orally.

S. tortuosum is traditionally used to fight stress and depression, relieve pain and alleviate hunger.[5]

S. tortuosum has been studied to alleviate excessive nocturnal barking in dogs and excessive nocturnal meowing in cats, both diagnosed with dementia.[4]

Effects

S. tortuosum may elevate mood and decrease anxiety, stress and tension.[3][4] Intoxicating doses can be euphoric but not hallucinogenic, contrary to some literature on the subject.[5]

Safety

Human studies

The long history of traditional human use[5] suggests but does not prove that S. tortuosum is relatively safe for human consumption. Use of the 2:1 standardised extract in healthy adults at a dose of up to 25 mg once daily over a three-month period was well tolerated.[10][/quote

You're right - I could end up doing serious harm if I smoke the wrong plant. But with proper identification I think it should be relatively safe. I'll make sure to post images of the plants before I go to smoke them too, that is if I do it in the first place.

I've actually never tried Kanna, mainly because I was prescribed an SSRI and I was afraid the two would not mix well. But now I'm not taking any medications so I might give Kanna a try.

It supposedly has different effects at different dosages, and it might depend on how you use it too.
I have experienced this too, although I'm not entirely sure if it was just the dosage that changed the experience or if there might have been some other cause.

http://kanna-info.com/kanna-effects
Quote:
Kanna: both stimulant and sedative

In a moderate dose kanna gives an energy boost: some users describe ‘tingling sensations’ or the desire to dance and sing. Others report enhanced ability to think clearly and focus sharply. In a higher dose stimulating effects are exchanged for sedation, experienced by both mental and muscle relaxation. In this stage concentration and focus might become slightly impaired.

Ohh, i want try grow Kanna.
I actually have 11 tiny seeds.
But, they are at least a few years old so i guess they are done for.
I have read kanna seeds don´t have good storage life.

I guess i can try sow them anyway, stranger things have happened.
Just watersoak overnight and plant, right?

And that dwarf scullcap, is that something someone invented?
Talked with someone who ordered seeds from 2 different places and they all turned up to be ordinary scullcaps.
Is this like one of those ethnobotanical internet myths?
Have someone here actually grow this herb and can show?
Not my fathers dog know someone who did it.

Yeah, pretty much for the kanna. They can take a little while to germinate, like 2-3 weeks. They grow pretty slow from seed at first. Cuttings root easily otherwise, I have like 50 I can take on my motherplant right now.

Scutellaria nana is an actual described species: https://npgsweb.ars-grin.gov/gringlobal/taxonomydetail.aspx?id=456785
It's just that unscrupulous vendors who don't have access to the seeds try to make a buck by selling mislabeled ones haha, doesn't mean it's a myth. I'd try finding seeds from a vendor that's not specialized in ethno plants.

I'm an expert in this field , I'm actually beginning a e book on the topic , one if the most promising legal herbs coming up is salvia recognita , it was taken from turkey and tested for  salvinorin like diriviatives and it was found to be a tenth as potent as saliva divinorin , which may sound like a a waste of time to some of you except salvinorin a is the most potent naturally produced compound that's of psychedelic use found In recent years . There are also lots of artemisia absinthium plants worth purchasing , passionflower incarnata , there are of course San Pedro cacti , nicotiana rustica which has vision amounts of nicotine present , there are endless plants

Kratom may be legal in your state ,

Angel trumpets are brutally psychedelic but anyone will tell you not to take that , I micro dose angel trumpet to increase cholegeric receptor sites by Down regulating them like Amazonian shamans do.

There is dagga , it's ok , skullcap is good , Piri Piri which is added to snuffs that have dmt like compounds , there is cebil , yopo, cow itch or murucura seeds , which Increase dopamine

It's endless , there is l. Diffusa which is the cousin of peyote which is active despite what others say, and it's legal .

So many acacia species are legal it isn't even funny , and dmt is rampant in its bark and phyllodes .
There are fish , there are frogs , there are grasses that are psychedelic

Phalaris grasses , aq1 , big medicine , are a couple good one s
There are Syrian rue seeds which grow nice mounding plants

There is ephedra sindica , ephedra actually has about four species worth looking into

There are odd species of tropical plants that contain Iboga like compound s
There is a species of Laural when you smell it's broken leaves it's causes a 30 second hallucination

So many plants . Cebil is available at some rare plant  tropical nurseries and has a horribly painful snuff that it's seeds can be made from

Mescaline is present in about 40 cacti

Morning. Glory plants , Hawaiian wood rose , sleepy grass, erogot wines even but not recommended .

As I brought up above salvia recognita is a new plant on the ethnobotanical sites , for obvious reason that is grows well in colder North American environment s and can be concentrated to salvia d. Levels of potency .

There are lots , erowid has a lot of suggestions in its psychoactive plant section

Hope this helped

And yes you can breed higher compound containing plants , this is how cannabis got as potent as it has,  and I  currently am trying this with ayahuasca vines and psychotria viridis plants

--------------------

The really important facts were that spatial relationships had ceased to matter very much and that my mind was perceiving the world in terms of other than spatial categories. At ordinary times the eye concerns itself with such problems as where? — how far? — how situated in relation to what? In the mescaline experience the implied questions to which the eye responds are of another order. Place and distance cease to be of much interest. The mind does its perceiving in terms of intensity of existence, profundity of significance, relationships within a pattern."

Shhhhh...
Don´t tell everyone.
And don´t write a book, soon they make it illegal to even think about taking a stroll into nature.
Who knows, you might chew on some bark while out there and then you are a antisocial junkie.
I bet it will be 4 years prison to even sniff a flower in the future.

Now I want to grow it too lol. I just googled it and apparently I can just buy kanna seeds over here so I'll probably buy some and try it out myself too.
Your seeds might not be viable anymore but it can't hurt to try imo, seeds can sometimes survive remarkably well, even in shitty conditions.

Can I ask how you process it, assuming you're using it and are not just growing it for the fuck of it lol.
Do you make an extract out of it or just grind up plant matter and use that?
