That's the one!

Love it have had it over a year still working as it did in the beginning.

the igniter is really awesome as I hated having to light it with a bic before.

:takingnotes: I usually use a pair of flame sterile hemos to get stubborn lids off.

that's a good idea, should solve the problem.

still you should do a test run just to get comfortable with the setup and so you know what to expect when it's game time.

I assume it's the same as doing lc to grain (my lids tend to stick) just a bit extra weight but that magnet I posted has no problem lifting up the assembly.

Also I don't use the Oster attachment I just screw the lid on really tight.

I meant the metal bard of the blade assembly. I don't use the oster plastic attachment just the jar ring with the lid mixed in. sorry If i'm not wording it thoroughly.

ANyway would love to hear how yours turns out for you.

Ive just scored & fixed this mini fridge for $36.

We have a hot unstable temperature in our place.
- Is it advisable store colonizing plate to this?

Similar to the one I use. Mine works better packed full, put everything in insulated bags to minimize temp swings that cause condensation and open it as little as possible. I refrigerate my dishes upside down, it seems to help with the condensation that does happen because of the minor temp swing

Dont use for colonizing plates just for storing cultures.

Thanks for the tips brother. Usefull to halt colonization.
This will buy me sometime during out of town for work.
Tested it & 59f is #1 and 38f on #6 settings..

We have a undstable & a hot place around 86f.
Any suggestion for a stable lower temp chamber for colonizing dishes?

:whathesaid:

You will want to keep an eye on your cultures at first, or put some test ones in it until you get the temp dialed in.
I've found mini fridges to be tricky,
I've had plates in one spot freeze and others fill up with condensation to the point they weren't usable.
Took a bit of fooling around until I found the right setting

been using mine for thousands of lights and no issues.

You may have gotten the igniter wet whiling lighting it causeing the electical spark to short/fry and thus broke the igniter.

IDK how you could have gotten it wet, maybe spraying with lysol or iso?
or just wiping with an overy wet iso towel?
?

and even if that happened you should be able to return/exchange it if you just bought it.

Just can't imagine mine could work so well and yours be faulty but it can happen.

If you have the flame setting too high for too long then it can melt the coating on the
wire that provides the spark which causes it to short.

oh yeah that makes sense.

I only keep it running long enough to sterilize my tool and then shut it off so it never heats up very much.

As long u have a clean culture or without bad cooties and it doesn't get over 100f° your dishes are fine.
Cubes are trop/sub tropical, lower temps are beneficial for the myc cause it moves faster than bacteria at those temps.
