My allenii patch isn't regrowing. What's going on?

About a month ago, I found a large P. allenii patch in a woodchip bed in Northern California. I harvested about 1/4th of the patch and left the remaining ones (they were old, squishy, some dead/black). I did my best not to tear up any of the bed.

For about a month, there was no rain, and the entire bed disappeared.

Fast forward to this week: It's rained pretty much all week up here, and I've been checking on the patch on my daily jogs. So far, not a single pin. Is it the month? It's dipping down to near- or at-freezing temperatures at night. Or are these little guys more slow-growing than I thought?

Myc is not at all anywhere near drought tolerant.

Cold temps do not help either

It could be the temps. I have a small outdoor cubensis grow (central ca) and right now the mycelium is growing like crazy and even eating on some branches I put on top of the pile but no fruits. I think as soon as the temps pick up they will flush again. Drying out doesn't help either but my compost pile dried up almost completely and after a deep watering the mycelium rebounded quick.

What's the humidity like? You may need to great a green house environment with atleast 65-70% humidity for them to fruit.

I'm in Florida amd they fruit in temps in the 40's at night and 50-60's in the day as long as the humidity is up.

He said it was dry for a month and now near freezing.  Humidity gets low when temps are low.

they could get snow in norcal in the mountains.

The humidity is between 60% and 95% throughout the day. 38-45°F at night. I checked the pile and some parts are a bit dry. I'll probably water some and see what happens. I'm not that invested in this for fruits, I have enough for the next couple years and a lot of my IRL friends grow too. I mainly want to compost weeds and wood without needing any heat/effort. Even when my pile fruits I don't pick them :lol:

Also be aware that some patches fruit early, some fruit later - most patches in my experience won’t necessarily fruit the whole season. Ive noticed that often patches that have a very intense fruiting early, won’t have much after - sometimes with very intense fruitings I have seen them never reappear, even the next season. It’s like they blew their whole wad at once and consumed all the nutrients or something. That’s why it’s important to always be looking for new patches. When I lived in Seattle, I’d find upwards of 20 new patches every season - some early, some late. Just always be looking cuz you can’t count on one patch. There are certainly later fruiting patches going now that werent doing anything early in the season...
