Re: Dead Tour [Re: notapillow]

Well I already have my Bonnaroo ticket. And I will be seeing them... Basically all of the NE shows. Ones that are definately for sure are jones beach, camden, hartford (not the friendliest stop..) because those are all pretty close to home, and we wouldnt neccesarily have to get campsites if we didnt want to. I'm about 3 hours from all those places. I will definately be at deer creek too. I reeeeallly wish I could go to red rocks, but I dont think I could swing that... Unless of course I quit my job, and sell all of my material possesions for a microbus... yeah, that might work

Is it true the grateful dead were banned from red rocks at one time? Something about.. the town not being able to handle the huge caravan setting up town there. Someone was talking about this the other day..

Yeah we ruined that in the late 80's. It used to be so nice when we could camp right at the venue's lot. We used to be able to do it at most of them. Just stumble out of the show and not have to worry about staying on a road thats melting.
Then came the rule of no camping and the yellow guys saying "you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here".

Red Rocks does have alot of nice campgrounds and hotels close by. One of the nicest venues on earth. :gd_icon:

have you ever been to the gorge? they have a camp ground at the venue, it's pretty sweet.

Washington state has a much better atmosphere than any of the Ca shows i've been to. like 3 or 4 years ago on 4th of july when i saw PL&F in snowqualamie, they had a nice open field for the lot (but then a wierd bus system that took you like 6 miles to the actual venue).. but i didnt see 1 cop the whole day, no security, people walking around with 2 foot bongs just rippin them like it was nothin.. i'd never seen that many people just bieng 'open' like that, certainly not in the california areas, thier's always someone looking over thier shoulder for danger.

anyway, i didnt get into the show, but after everyone got back, and it was like 3 in the morning, the cops rolled by and did thier cant stay here announcement then took off... they just left... so we left like 20 minutes later... but i had never seen them be so layed back about it... like if you've ever been to irvine, ca, they do this big massive sweep from one end of the lot to the other... they dont advance untill the row is completely clear, and if you dont leave right when they get to you, they give you a ticket...thier's no scene after the show there. it's lame.

The Gorge is nice and a rare venue. It used to be we camped at every venue wether in a open field parking lot next to a outdoor ampitheater or a concrete lot next to a venue in the middle of the city.
Shorline is kind of simliliar in that it was made for camping with it's huge lots. Of course the assholes banned camping though.

The worst was staying in the parking garage next to Madison Square Garden for 13 days. :gd_icon:

Phycotron, I was at that Phil show at Snoquamie. It was pretty sweet. We were bummed that we missed Moe though, because there was such a long line for the stupid buss  :crying:. It was still a sweet show though, and a pretty beautiful venue. I'm hoping to be able to make it to the Gorge this summer. I love that place!

Yes...Illinois show would be nice. Even if they play Alpine Valley in WI...Hell, I'd probably even go seem them here at Summerfest, even though its more drunks than heads there....

Yuppiest vibe I've ever felt at a show. Not much vending being allowed, lots of undercovers and stuff, they parked us halfway across town. Glad we had lawn tix judging from how uptight the crowd past the gate looked. Awesome show, overall though, last year. The band was great, but the rain put a damper on me all day and night. That and, we had to take my little sister to that show. She was a trooper staying with us till the encore in the cold pouring rain though. I was proud of her for jamming with us all night  :heartpump:

I like jones beach a lot more, those are our two local shows. The rest are like mini vacations for me, and feels more like a trip. I cant camp after local shows, though I'd like to.  :gd_icon:

I'll be at Bonnaroo and I'll wait for the official announcements before I decide where I'm going, I wanna see Cheese and the Allman Brothers at the Red Rocks more than anything right now.  I doubt I'll wanna drive Tennessee to Colorado very badly after the roo but I guess we'll probably have a decent amount of time.  I have to be in California by July 7th anyhow maybe I'll just follow the Dead back there if it works that way, that could proove interesting  :crazy2: I'll have to wait for the dates I guess.
