Are the Dead touring next year?

I sure hope so. I'm getting into them... unfortunatley very late into their legendary carrer. But better now than never. I am going to try as hard as I can to get to Bonnaroo next year, maybe I'll see them there.

i am too... goddamn, the "scene" sucked ass this year

the 1st year i went (the 2nd year of) the lineup busted ass... that's why i went. the "scene" happened to bust ass too. the 2nd time (this year) i went primarily because i had such a blast last year but wasn't overly excited about the lineup. if i hadn't gone with afoaf (the shroomerite) i would have been bitter.

so, to sum it up, yeah, the lineup will have to be killer to get me there a 3rd time

the 2nd roo was soo great :smile:  I had a good time at this years one, but... the scene was pretty lame and i liked the band lineup the prev year much better.  ALlman bros + wailers + neil young + widespread + dead... mmmm

the scene is what you make of it. you get what you give. and you cant just sit back and say the scene was good or bad.... maybe through your eyes it was bad. its certainly changing but this doesnt make it 'bad'. it can change for the better, and you just need to flow rite with it, and do your part.

wait, are we talking about a different kind of scene within the jam community?

i did, however, get jostled by fighting idiots, hear insults being yelled, and bought bunk drugs. far more bunk shit than good.

the scene is what you make of it. bring your own fuckin drugs and enjoy the music.

it will be a big year this year. lookout for phil lesh and friends as well as rat dog, with bob weir doin something with SCI over thankgiving. its gonna be a good year. look for the good. thats it. its never too late

Yeah it sounds like there will be a pretty big tour next summer for their 40th anniversary. There's a rumour on philzone.com that Bruce Hornsby will play keyboards with them next year. It's just a rumour but that would be really cool. I think I'll have to make it out to Red Rocks next year if they do that again and I bet they will.

Summer thing. Fall isn't gonna happen because many of the members are already booked (like Haynes with AMB and Weir with Ratdog and hopefully Lesh with PLQ). There's a tiny chance they'd do a small winter tour but I doubt it. Expect a big summer tour to celebrate their 40th.

I really hope they don't play MSG.... I have no desire to go to New York... much less during the dead of winter (ha). I'm hoping and hoping they'll play west-coast someplace.

I'd skip Bonnaroo if you are looking for a Dead experience I'd go see them some place they are playing two nights that you can camp near by if they are doing anything like that. I have no interest in Bonnaroo, it's not like the swine are going to stop coming.

The scene is pretty shady, I don't care what any of these people say. I go for music and if there is a kicking scene then that is fucking awesome but I really don't care if the lots are cool are not, I care if the musicians I'm seeing are producing. It's alot cooler when the lots are emitting a loving vibe but it happens pretty rarely these days besides the pockets of heads here and there, over all shadiness rules the lots in most parts of the country these days.

It's cold and it will cost me to much, I really want to go to NYC but not in the winter. I live in Iowa and it's cold, I can't spend all that money to go some where colder. It just doesn't appeal to me as much and I'm trying to pinch penny's...
