Yup... just woke up and am gonna noc' them up now with 1.5ccs each. Some b+, some Penis Envy and some Ecuadorian.

I can't find one damn consistently warm spot in my house. I'm thinking about a heating pad but I'm not comfortable leaving the house with that on. It's in the mid 60s my place all day.

Well I couldn't find a warm spot in the house so I made thing. I put a 200w aquarium heater on the bottom of the water tub. I set it to around 75.

That's a lot of inoculations! Looks like through the tyvek then taped over?

Can you elaborate what im doing wrong? Im performing protocols i learned about 3 years ago. What has changed as far as noc'ing up large quantities of any grain? Other than grain to grain transfer, what else have i missed? Instead of implying that im doing it so old school that its almost wrong, tell me some simplified methods that have developed.

Anything wrong with the Martha closet im about to set up? Back when i was into this Martha closets were the best for bulk growing.

Looks similar to what I’m doing.  I use rye berry though.  Tek is still basically the same. Interested in this though as I am wondering what everyone is using for a tent these  days.  I see the 4 tier ones on amazon for 30$ is that the one?  Best of luck man looking good.

I love this thread. I'm about to do my first grow in almost 4 years.
Foo pops on with his awesome WBS tek (that I use).
And Junkboxer is doing it old school. It brings back memories.
I think Martha's are fucking rad. Many, many pans out of my old Martha.

Op lives in a house that is 60 F. He would be well below optimal colonization temps.

In general incubators are frowned upon as outdated. Maybe a space heater would be more appropriate.
You want to stay below 82 Internal temp so around 75-78 external is ideal. You have to account for heat generated by the mycelium.

Did you have good results using tyvek like that before?
What type of inoculation are you using?

My house is very polarizing, its either really hott or really cold. I needed an incubator just to keep them at 75 to 76 degrees. i'm not jacking it up to 80 degrees+

I've always used tyvek like that, pierced it with a spore syringe (i put the needle under a flame before i do each jar) and then cover that area up with some micropore tape. I've always had success, however this is my first time using corn so im worried that its a little too moist in the jar (even though the tek i followed explained that was ideal). When i did this with WBS my jars always worked out well.

Hopefully corn isnt endospore laden like ive heard. I had a hell of a time with oats that i would not wish on anyone and ended up going back to fooman wbs.

Can popcorn kernels expand with water? They are so hard i kinda doubt they swell up much like millet and sunflower seeds.
Did you already knock your grains up? Did you go with a vendor syringe?

The corn swelled up pretty big; some did split open though :/

I already noc'ed them up with syringes from SW

If it doesn't work ill just go back to WBS. I still have my fingers crossed for the popcorn. What issues did the endospore content give you? slow colonization times?

Hello All- its been some time but ive been doing some trial and error with this martha. Since i last posted, i removed the crappy humidifier and bought a Vicks. I rigged it up and have it feeding the closet from the outside. i have a small fan inside blowing around the mist and the humidifier is set at 1hr ON/1hr OFF.

My issue, everything seems awesome with my grows until i start to fruit and i start to see little mushrooms. They are pretty damn small and i notice some myc on the base so im assuming its a FAE issue. What do you guys think?

-the spawn is WBS and when i transferred them into the tupperware i just mixed it with some pasteurized coir.
-The closet door is usually kept shut.
-I poked to holes in the front to up the FAE
-The temps are higher than id like, low 70s, but when i leave the house ill open the windows and door and let the temps down but thats not as often as id like.
-I have the lights on anywhere from 8 to 12 hours a day
*i just know somethings off because these babies should be fat and plump; these should look better no?
*Currently growing Golden Coast, but ive had Penis Envy in there and B+; same issues regardless of strain.

You need a fan to remove air from inside the Martha’s. The system should flush the air from inside the GH then immediately after refill it with your humidifier. Dialing in a Martha’s is extremely difficult which is why most people don’t use them if they’re just growing cubes.

I actually have a small fan on the inside, however its facing the plastic liner aimed up to move around the mist. Maybe ill just point it up towards the front aiming at the holes in my Martha to push more air out. If thats the case, should i leave the humidifier on 24/7 instead of 1hr ON/ 1hr OFF?

Why not get a humidity controller and turn it on when it needs to come on?

Your Martha will probably not hold humidity very well since you cut holes in it. Personally I would tape those holes in the front up and place a fan facing out toward the top. There’s no way to give advice on how long you’ll need to run your fan and humidifier but Violet has some nice write ups that would give you a place to start.

Hmm my hygrometer registers my rh at 99% all the time;the Vicks humidifier seems to be pretty dam strong. Imo things got better once I put holes in the closet. When you say stick the fan out do you mean open the closet slightly at the bottom and aim the fan out of the Martha? If that's the case I'll leave the humidifier on 24 hours a day, instead of one hour on and one hour off.

After looking at your pictures again it seems like some of your trays have nice droplets and some don’t. Martha’s require active air exchange which means you need to flush the humid air out, many people use a small PC blowing air out of the GH, then replenish it with fresh humid air from the ultrasonic. This cycle needs to happen multiple times a day and requires you to dial it in to achieve the best results. Cubes are pretty CO2 tolerant so your passive system with holes may work, keep an eye on the fruits as they develope and look for signs of low FAE like fuzzy feet and skinny fruits.
