Are Constellations Bullshit? * 1
    #24716339 -

Constellations are said to have been recorded by an ancient greek poet. But here's the thing, right, there was no light pollution back then. The sky looked like this

My question is, HOW IN THE MOTHER FUCK DID THEY SEE ANY CONSTELLATIONS. YOU CANT SEE SHIT. THE STARS WERE LIKE GRAINS OF SAND ON A BEACH. HOW THE FUCK DID THEY MAKE OUT ANY CONSTELLATIONS.

No wonder none of the constellations look anything like what theyre supposed to

like what the fuck is that honestly

I feel like someone just misinterpreted the Greek poems and we just ran with it

Ive been to an area where there is little light pollution and little air pollution. There are NOT that many stars. Thats a time-lapse photo.

Trust me, stars are just too far away to be that crowded at night. The light from those deep space stars are very faint.

There is no place on earth you will ever be able to see the stars as the ancients did. Even in the midle of the ocean, the farthest away you can get from any light pollution, the sky is still tainted.  Obviously it's a time lapse photo. Shit dont look like that no more, mane.

Aside from exaggerated colors, thats what the sky wouldve looked like in Ancient Greece

That's a picture of the southern sky. Yes the density of stars in the plane of the galaxy is really that high.

i have constellations of birthmarks on my arms that i've noticed over the years...if i connect the dots on my left forearm it's a scorpion, and on the right forearm is a rabbit that looks like bugs bunny...It's significant to me because i'm a scorpio and used to live in a scorpion infested apartment in Phoenix, during which time i would often contemplate the severe nature of such a creature.  I've always liked bugs bunny, who i would consider as a polar opposite to a scorpion.

Constellations are real.

Assigning a meaning to them more profound that if you connect the dots it resembles something, which you can use to navigate by the night's sky, most often is not.

When all they had to do at night was look up.. I am pretty damned sure they got good at it after a couple years.

but it would've been completely arbitrary.. They could've said any combination of stars was anything.. Why is it that the constellations are so universally well known? Why is it the birth signs belief has been adopted by so many people? The constellations were completely randomly selected.

In fact i think the poems could've been interpreted as "beings in the sky" without any reference to the beings showing up in the form of star shapes.

I'm almost convinced this was just lazy anthropology that caught on

Go in the middle of the woods and look up and it will be the same as 1000s of years ago. We are looking at the exact same sky with or without light polution in areas on earth.

The southern sly is faaar more clear with many more stars tho that has to do with how its ,
