It should be no problem to get your hands on a rocket launcher then hey?

What about some heavy artillery for your vehicle...perhaps some anti aircraft artillery?

Flamethrower?

The whole idea of the second amendment as I understand it, is the freedom to bear arms for the ability to stand up to a tyrannical government should the need arise.

I don't understand why anti aircraft artillery isn't being sold at the local k mart.

You don't sound very free

dude someone in texas just bought a tank, and parked it on the street outside his house

https://www.click2houston.com/news/story-behind-tank-parked-in-river-oaks

can you buy a tank? can you park it in front of your house?

Fair enough.

So why the freedom to own some weapons but not others...like the shit the military rocks out? Why can't someone in the state's go down to a local k mart and get some anti aircraft guns fitted to their ride?

Or rocket launchers, flamethrower, etc?

Freedom supposedly dictates that if it can be made, it should be owned because....well...because.

thats just such a silly argument.. we need cars in our society. at this point they are essential. Military grade weapons add nothing to civilian society but a slight feeling of "yay if i wanna buy something that sprays bullets everywhere i can yayy freedom" but thats accompanied by tragedies caused by it.

What do you think will happen if assault weapons are banned? What negtive outcomes will it have? Im looking for an exact answer, how will the country be worse off without machine guns?

...Freedom is exactly what will be lost, dont try to downplay its importance.

So would you say then that the definition of freedom is to have an assault weapon?

And anywhere that doesn't let you have assault weapons ISN'T free?

Is it possible to be free and NOT have access to assault weapons?

Part of the definition, but that doesnt mean you have to own one to be free. I mean, I could manufacture full auto weapons. I shouldnt have to be worried about a government telling me I cant do that. I could pump stens and ak47's out of round stock and flat bar all day, but I cant because Im not free.

freedom implies that something is captive.

until there is a solid legitimized movement of people who want own nukes (or whatever), there is no "freedom" involved, really.

Well that's your interpretation of freedom.

Apparently, from what im gathering, freedom means you get a nuke because you want one.

Nukes don't kill people...shitty people kill people(with nukes).  Right?

I didn't say you have to own one.

I'll rephrase the question...

I asked if the definition of freedom was the right to own an assault weapon?

What about missles?

Biological weapons?

Automatic shotguns...explosive rounds, etc?

If you don't have the right to possess or manufacture such things, you feel you aren't "free"?

Yes, yes, and yes. I have manufactured missiles (unarmed) and shaped charges as experiments before. I dont see what the big deal is. You're the one with all these weird phobias about them.

I should note that I'm just posing questions

I'm personally on the fence about it.

How far does "freedom" stretch?

Every country, states included, draws the line somewhere when it comes to weapons.  And where they draw the line, comes with very harsh penalties.

Why I ask?

To me, It just shows that this "freedom" gun nuts cling to seems like such a farce.

If you were truly free you could build nuclear weapons if you so desired.  Or have any of the weapons on this list:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Title_II_weapons

Harsh regulations around legally owning these.

No one took them away.  They just made the process of obtaining them much stricter.

I don't see people crying about their freedom there(or at nuclear weapons)

What kind of gun you can and can't own doesn't define your "freedom".

Guns are cool though.  I get it.  And I don't like people telling me what I can and can't own.

So I'm on the fence.  Just posing questions at the end of the day

Where was any phobia introduced?  Stop drinking and pay attention.

I asked if you if you defined freedom by the right to legally (or illegally by your own admission) own such weapons

You answered yes, yes, yes.

Peculiar way to define freedom.

Why can't you legally make weapons of mass destruction?

Why can't another country for that matter?

They're not afraid of them.  They're afraid of what somebody who considers the Holocaust to have been a justified form of ethnic self-defense will do with rockets and shaped charges.

it's truest interpretation of the word, but we can agree to disagree. i shouldn't imply that it's the only definition used, obviously.
