I don't know why we're bothering sitting around discussing what the problem is. Nothing will happen because of this shooting.

Twenty first graders and their teachers got mowed down at Sandy Hook. We changed nothing. Why would 50 dead adult concert goers lead to anything different? The extent of the action taken here will be thoughts and prayers.

This is America now.

I just hope concerts will NOT ban bullet proof armor at concerts. I know bullet proof armor is illegal (cause it protects u from cop guns) but it should be made legal to provide defense for people who are afraid of guns. Its a human right to protect ourselves, offensively or defensively.

Are you really willing to accept that though? That going to a concert, going to the mall, going to school carries a high enough risk of you getting mowed down that bulletproof armor is required?

I'm not arguing that we're not to the point where realistically bulletproof armor is an unreasonable request. What's more alarming to me is that rather than make changes to keep weapons designed for the sole purpose of efficiently and quickly killing mass amounts of people from being so readily available to those who would use them for such a purpose, our reaction has become one of acceptance of the fact that we will keep allowing them to be this easily available, and should instead make it easier for everyday people to wear military grade body armor.

Have we really decided as a nation that my ability to walk into a gun store and purchase an assault weapon with ease is so important that we should continue on our current path, even if it means we've gotten ourselves to the point where we need to double check that our kids have their Kevlar on before we drop them off at their first concert with their friends?

Your rights only extend as far as the point of impinging upon someone else's right, no different than yelling "Bomb!" or "Fire!" in a crowded building when there is none and not having the defense of freedom of speech. Do we really believe that when we've reached that point, someone else's second amendment right isn't impinging upon my right and reasonable expectation to not need Kevlar to leave my house?

With a few state exceptions, I think they mostly are banned. However, a semi-auto version of a normally automatic military weapon is perfectly legal.

This isn't the America I grew up in. None of us did. We didn't wear Kevlar to concerts. Until Columbine (90's) students didn't shoot up schools. Until the 2000's, people didn't mow down first graders, dancers at a club, or concert goers. Why is it ok to us that our American reality is one of mass shootings, and why are we so afraid to try and take it back to a place that we all once lived in where mass shootings weren't a regular occurrence? What do we currently have now that we didn't have back then that is so worth not giving up? :shrug:

Its time the USA really enforces stricter gun laws. It is insane the amount of shootings that take place there and still gun laws are not changed.
I am so sorry this happened, and my heart goes out to the ones affected by this utter horrendous act upon humanity..

Leaving the house wearing body armor as a necessity is something that should not even have to be thought of.. It is like the ex soldier Nathan Gale who shot the Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell.
He was discharged from the military with mental issues and still was able to have access to firearms which also resulted in a shooting at a concert.

Arent full automatic guns already illegal? But since mostly every thing is legal in Nevada (except touring Area 51), maybe regular Joe can pick up an Uzi or MP5 to go on the Vegas strip?

good friend of mine was at that concert. Makes this mass shooting shit seem much more real.. Fuckin scary.

the guy was 64 year old pool company owner. I doubt he had connections to a black market military arms dealer.  I would bet he obtained them legally.

I dont think it makes sense to keep automatic weapons legal and obtainable. You are risking the lives of countless people just so some bored dudes can shoot at cans and targets with them?
