UPDATE


They recovered the car!!! I've been out of town for work and won't be able to get it from the tow yard until tomorrow, my roommate told me yesterday that I got something from the parking authority in the mail which looks like a recent ticket, so I think the cops got tipped off by that.

It doesn't seem like the car is super damaged from what the cops said on the phone - but we'll see, honestly I'm having AAA tow it from the tow yard and taking it straight to my mechanic, god knows what the interior looks like :uhoh:


I'm honestly just amazed they found it.

Yeah, I freaked out when I got the voicemail :lol:


All I can think of now is The Big Lebowski and a vagrant using it as a toilet though...so now I'm almost a little nervous to go see what state it's in.

My sister in laws dad had this happen to him a while back and apparently when he got his car back there were thousands of miles on the odometer, it smelled like death, and he found out that someone had been raped in the car according to law enforcement so I'm just imagining the worst.

I had a surreal experience when I was just a kid. I don't think I was even in kindergarten yet. My parents used to buy and sell cars. We were living in Kent Wa at the time. We got a knock on the door at about 2 am. So they had to take me as well. Cops saying they found the car. Smashed the windows and all sorts of shit. One of the only cars my parents took a loss on.

That was an experience I only remember as it was surreal. I was actually talking with ma about it a while ago and she just laughed. I'm surprised you actually remember that you were super young. I actually remember a lot about when we lived in Kent. Just snap shots and pictures. Like having a rock fight and getting smashed in the face with a damn near boulder. :lol:

Thanks! I'm happy it got found too -I'm still braced for the worst though. For all I know that thing went across the country and back.

yeah, really fucked up. His adopted son, who has a really good heart but has some fairly severe mental health issues fell in with the wrong crowd in a desperate attempt to find friends - so called friends stole the car, and it wasn't found for about a month.


One thing that I'm legitimately worried about is finding used needles and shit in my car, which is why I'm having it towed out of the tow yard :lol:; I'm not sitting in that thing until it's like..fumigated and cleaned out fully. I have no idea where it's been or what's happened in it since it went missing, but it was recovered in a pretty terrible section of the city.

Even if it all looks fine and dandy they could of drove the fucking shit out of it.  Slamming breaks, accelerating super hard and redlining a bunch, etc.  Lets hope not though

Ya that shit is no joke. I worked this shit job a while back and they just told me cleaning the bathroom trash cans. Hold the bag from you. Ton's of needles poke out.

Which being an ex needle junkie the bathroom in question is perfect. It's a single unit that locks. Junkie paradise. I really could care less what you do but have some decency. Put your cap back on and throw it away. Idiots. Giving needle junkies a bad name everywhere :lol:

One kid did get accidentally poked and he had to have all sorts of bloodwork tests done. It was a huge pain for the company.

Right? Same. Most cars don't even need work done. Just give it a good detailing job and you can easily make 500$+. My parents used to do it for a long time.

So final update, I managed to get my car out of impound.


I have to get a new key cut for the car so I won't know if it's driveable or how many miles these fuckers put on it until after labor day. They got into a fender bender - it's gonna be a lot of $$ for bodywork - I'm hoping that the car's axle isn't fucked and it's driveable. I'm guessing they probably hit a parked car or rearended a moving car and fled the scene of an accident -


As far as the condition of the interior - I'm missing some bags - my big leather portfolio, nothing really of importance - I haven't sat in the car yet and I'm out of town until after labor day but it looked to be in relatively good shape - my stereo is still there, which surprised me, and the car does not reek of poo or smell like a vagrant used it as a toilet - so I'm sort of amazed by that. I had a company on standby for biohazard cleanup :lol:.

At this rate I'm hoping to god it'll get me where I need to go for another few months, then I think I'm gonna buy my SIL's Mazda 3, as she's looking to get a larger car now that her and my brother have a baby and a dog to tow around - then I'll either scrap this car or sell it to someone who will part it out.

Yup, the facility it was at wasn't a police facility - they contract it out to a towyard that the cops use strictly for abandoned and stolen vehicles - dunno if it's the same facility as cars that they impound for other issues  - but they gotta make a living too, so yeah, you do have to pay to get your own stolen vehicle out of impound.

It was 141 dollars for the towing fee and two days(even though it was technically in there less than 24 hours :mad2:). Luckily I have AAA which towed it out of there for free and gave me 200 miles of free towing to use in the future because they felt bad for me :lol:.


There was a slight discount for stolen vehicles as opposed to abandoned vehicles, so there's that, I guess :shrug:

Yeah, it sucks - especially because the towyard took cash only so if your car gets stolen and you have to wait until next pay day? It could easily get to 700 dollars.

I've had my car towed once before(different car, this was back in 2011/2012) - it was actually illegally hooked because the car was parked legally but there was a huge scandal in my city with 'rogue towyards' that would hook your car, tow it to an illegal parking space so they could then "legally" tow it and extort you out of hundreds of dollars - which is what happened to that car - the towing fees were much more expensive then, so it was a pleasant surprise that it was under 200 dollars.


But yeah, shit sucks when it comes to keeping and parking a car here :lol:

I'm moving back to a section of the city where I don't need my car - if I really want one I'll stick it in a locked/patrolled lot for 70 bucks a month.
