Portioning out your meals for the week + best breakfast recipe ever w/ pics
    #24437563 -

So I'm trying to start portioning out my meals for the week.

This is breakfast every morning now when I don't get lazy and have the money and ingredients...

Totally vegan, awesomeness.

Almond milk

Your choice of oats - instant or whatever.  The oats are about 2/3 of the whole mixture.
Steel cut oats are supposedly the best but take at least an hour to soak.  I actually put in both.

The "Regular Organic Granola" from whole foods, that has all kinds of stuff in it like pumpkin seeds, peanuts, almond slices, granola, etc.  - I put in about a handful.

Organic milled flax seeds... like a heaping half a cup.
Hemp seeds, few spoonfuls.
Chia seeds, a few spoonfuls.
Organic local refrigerated honey bee pollen (has pretty much a complete nutrition profile), whatever you can afford - lol.  A few spoonfuls put in when you're ready to eat, or I just take 2 heaping tablespoons and chew them up, but you can add it in if you don't like the taste or do or whatever.
Pinches of cinnamon.
I'll also throw in some local honey if I have some.

Day to day, I usually just add blueberries and sometimes sliced strawberries.  If I'm feeling really saucy I'll add in mangos and make it all fancy for my roommates like in the picture.

You can make a giant mix of all of this and keep it on the shelf or portion it out for breakfast every morning in mason jars.

Soak the amount you're going to eat in the morning or the night before - I usually let it soak for at least an hour mix it every 10mins or so and remember that a cup of this whole mixture is going to soak up like 2 cups of almond milk at least, like regular oatmeal.  I like a lot of almond milk and it's super cheap at Target and Aldi up here in the right spots you can find the big boxes for $2.  Figure out the proportions that work for your body and go from there in the future.

Another tip - if you are saving it to eat later, you can get frozen fruit and it will keep it cold and be perfect to eat a few hours later at a great temperature.  The frozen berry blends are perfect to put in.

Lunch - my exgf is doing this mason jar thing but with salads.  This already fills me up enough that I don't usually eat but this and dinner, but a salad for lunch would be good too.

Anybody else have recommendations or recipes?

It's one of the most delicious breakfasts you'll ever have with a complete nutrition profile.  Wanted to write it out and share since so many people have asked for the recipe.

If garbage is on the mind, then that's what you'll see.

That's the beauty, throw in whatever you want - beef included.  The beef is  going in my newly seasoned grill pan shortly.

Absolutely 100%, even after the first day, especially with the bee pollen.  You need to tweak it to your tastes and your personal digestive system, but you can mix this up and put different stuff in it, throw fucking cookie crisps if you want, shits awesome.

Now I'm trying portion out breakfast, lunch and dinner so where I have something healthy and ready to go instead of resorting to a microwave dinner or whatever.

Oatmeal is easy enough to make that I prefer to make it on the spot rather than pre-make it. That goes with all breakfast actually, eggs and stuff just taste better when cooked fresh. I eat a big breakfast daily. I go for a half cup of oatmeal and will throw in whatever I have on hand to flavor it up. I buy a lot of fruit and nuts, especially berries and almonds. When I go to the grocery store I always pick up strawberries, blueberries and raspberries at the same time and just eat it over the course of the week (usually finish them all off before that though). So slivered almonds and berries are the usual that I mix in. If I'm not doing oatmeal in the morning, I'm usually doing yogurt instead with the same kind of ingredients thrown in.

I also cook some eggs and some kind of protein up every morning. I'll usually make a bacon/egg/cheese bagel, most mornings. Sometimes I'll do a breakfast burrito, or I'll mix up a can of tuna with two scrambled eggs and put that on toast. I don't have time in the morning to cook up potato stuff on the weekdays, I usually have an hour to cook, eat breakfast, shower/shave. I've gotten pretty good at cooking up a huge breakfast quickly. Takes me no more than 10 minutes to heat up the pan, pop the bagels in the toaster, pour the oatmeal in the bowl, fry the eggs (I use instant bacon that takes very little time to heat up), etc, etc.

I make pitchers of unsweetened Ice Tea at home, usually drink that with every meal.

I make pre-made meals for lunch at work though. I'll cook up a bunch of food and separate it into these guys. Pretty basic for this stuff, I'll go with a protein (chicken/salmon typically), a vegetable and a carb. Mostly chicken with whatever recipe, sauteed broccoli/greenbeans (from fresh produce) (none of that boiled shit, I like the texture and taste of veggies way better this way), and rice or pasta.

I love to cook, but sometimes get carried away with how much I cook that I have to watch what I eat a lot of the time. Cook a lot of Indian and Chinese food, but I'll also go to a restaurant and order something and then find a way to replicate it at home. So all kinds of crazy shit. Since I do all this, I count calories on MyFitnessPal to the T. Everything that goes into my mouth down to the last slice of cheese gets counted. I can maintain a healthy weight eating around 2500 - 2800 calories per day, but I could easily eat twice that if I'm not watching it all.

My recommendation is to save your entire colorectal track by ditching the ridiculous notion that all the insoluble fiber in that mess is beneficial for it in any way.  The image(and book) that immediately comes to my mind looking at that:

The best thing I've come across for fiber in my entire life has been watermelon. Watermelon gets things running smoothly every damn time.

Smooth in what way?  A healthy person with a low fiber diet will put out consistent #4 and #5 poops.  A high fiber diet forcing shit mass through the bowels will start off with #3 or #6/7 stool deluding one into thinking it's helping, with the rebound ov eventual and inconsistent #1 and #2 stool.  Watermelon may be okay as it's relatively low in fiber but high in potassium.  Potassium is the primary mineral responsible for water retention in stool cells.

Ughh I've been trying to do this.

I've been trying to eat low carb, high fat/protein and low sugar...the sugar is the hardest thing for me - I love fruit and fruit smoothies - I can fit in a green breakfast smoothie with some fruit in it that's under 12gs of sugar but goddamn is it difficult.

That being said, one thing I like to do for the week is make 'egg muffins'. Basically you take one or two muffin trays, put parchment paper or just spray with non-stick, and then whisk together some eggs, spinach, and turkey bacon/protein or whatever omelet combo you like, and pour it into the muffin tray - bake at 375 for 15-17 minutes, and you've got awesome low carb egg muffins for your breakfast for the week.

I'd love to hear some more of your personal input on this.  This is the first I've heard of this.  What is a diet that you recommend?  I'll try to find the book next time I'm at the library if I can but I also would like to hear personal experience.

So, I've been reading about this fiber thing more and I think there might be something to it.  It goes against everything I've always been taught, but there are a couple of good points, mainly about water retention.  My mom has always always said you need lots of fiber.  I'm really curious as to what you recommend as a diet - or what that book recommends.

I love oatmeal, but my stomach doesn't. 2 fried slices of Wright bacon and 3 fried eggs for me... every morning.

Does it not give you gas? I just guess that anything that gives me gas pains is probably causing some kind of inflammation in my gut so I avoid it.

I've read the book a few years ago and while it's not perfect, it's quite comprehensive in illustrating all the reasons that fiber, particularly insoluble fiber, is terrible for the colorectal tract along with many examples ov medical study which back the hypothesis.  The main person behind the entire fiber scam was John Harvey Kellogg, who was a devout seventh day Adventist who was vehemently against sex for pleasure.  Since fiber was linked to a decreased sex drive at the time, he promoted a high fiber diet to further his religious anti-sex agenda as well as create a market niche for his products.

Besides all this, i determined that fiber was bad for me personally before i even read the book by simply reading my body.  For me, excessive fiber= bloating, gas, rebound constipation with #1 and #2 stool, and just general bowel discomfort.  I need my asshole for comfortable pooping and sex.  I do'nt need fiber fucking it up.
