Lowest humidity in a Metropolitan area in the Americas.
Hottest average temperature in a Metro area in the North America.
Top 5 lowest precipitation averages in a Metro area in America.

Monsoon season is amazing after having just gone through 2+ months of cloudless summer days.

Never have lived there. Just have an interest in places with strange weather.

Arizona I think is amazing, though.
I've only visited the northern half of the state a few times,
but it's extremely stark, majestic in a beautiful way.

In the Winter, snow shimmers off of immense yellow mountain peaks and rock formations while the valleys remain warm.

A lot of fun outdoor things to do. MTB seems to be the primary mode of entertainment.

Arizona is awesome...so many options as far as geography, climate, and nightlife.  Whenever you get tired of the heat you can just head on up I17 toward flagstaff and it gets significangly cooler as the elevation increases.
I lived in Phoenix for 5 years, which has its downsides, as it's a sprawling city with crazy traffic and a high crime rate.  But as i recall chandler is more toward the superstition mountains (on the outskirts of phoenix) which is a pretty nice area.

Never been to Phoenix, but I have been to the Grand Canyon. And Sedona. My God, man. Sedona is freaking amazing. Sedona is right up there among my favorite little towns that I've ever been to...right up there with Jackson Hole WY and Santa Barbara CA.

Sedona is fucking gorgeous.

Decent area, been there a lot. Lived in Tempe for a while and worked around there. Gets hot as fuck in summer, 115+ and shit.
I much love the scenery and climate of Arizona, dunno if I'd want to live there again, but like to visit.

I live In Tempe.  Shroomism lived with my brother! (I'm sorry man! lol!)

Its hot as fuck, but smart people are pasty white because they are smart and hide teh fuck inside during the summer. away from the burning orb of evil death and doom. :laugh:

Lots of shroomery kids here over the years.  Many a gathering has been held, etc.  If you can put up with the heat its a cool place to live. Big city, lots of shit to do, but all spread out.  No clusterfuck cramped people on top of people on top of people like say new york city.

Forests hour and a half up north.  Mexico few hours south.  Beach 4 hours away (or 6 to socal beaches)

It's nice. Hot and dry, mild winters. Fair amount of traffic (especially in snowbird season), but great food and nightlife.

Real estate is pretty cheap too, if you stay out of Scottsdale.

Its great, I'm originally from Tucson where there is less to do and its a bit cooler, but Phoenix is chill, lots of things to do and people to meet it seems like

Phx is like LA but in the middle of the desert and not as many ethnic culture options.

Plus the state is conservative as hell

Phoenix is the worst shithole city the US.

Personally, I find it immoral that anyone would want to move there due to the ecological damage it does to the region. There aren't enough water resources to support a city that size in the middle of the desert and they have to drain rivers completely dry just to support it.

Both cities are dumb with water.  At least where i live in the desert is atop massive water sources. 

At least they finally pushed natural draught friendly landscaping. 

Seemed like before of subsidized it everyone had grass in their yards.

the heat sucks.
monsoon season is cool as shit.
the way the city is laid out as far as streets go is pretty fucking rad.
great mexican food.
lived there on and off for years. would never move back.
dont have to smog vehicles.
drivers licenses dont expire for decades.
if you are into firearms, way lax on those laws.
sedona is amazeballs.

thats really all i can think of about the good bad and the ugly.

I grew up in California on the central coast, about 15 minutes from the nearest beach.  Insane costs, bad gang violence, etc etc.

Moved to Tempe after high school when some of our friends who were a year ahead had moved here to go to ASU. 

One of the things i do really love about the Phoenix metro area of cities is that you get all the benefits of a big city, but without feeling confined and squeezed in because everything here just grows outward since its just empty desert everywhere around, and Native American reservations (which are kind of sad. :frown:  )

BUT, unlike where I lived in california, you can get to just about every type of natural environment you want within 4 hours.  In my hometown if I wanted to go visit the snow in the winter it was at LEAST a 6 hour drive.  Here in AZ its an hour and  a half north to escape the desert heat and get into cooler climes, or snow in the winter.

Northern AZ is beautiful. Lots of forest and mountains and what not.  Eastern Az has all sorts of cool spots as well with the petrified forest and painted desert.  Very similar to New Mexico.

Even southern AZ has some gorgeous sand dune areas that people go to with sand rails and other ATV stuff.  Lots of fun.

It is definitely hot, no doubt about that.  That part sucks, but it IS a dry dry heat and that makes a massive difference, trust me.  I'll take 120 with 10% humidity over 90 and 90% humidity of the east coast or south.  Ugh.  FUUCCCK humidity.

As far as cities go, phoenix mostly  a 'new' city.  There are parts of course that did exist way back 150 years ago or whatever, but most of this place built up in the last 30 to 40 years.  What this means is that the infrastructure isn't falling apart badly, it was designed far far better with better planning in mind, etc.  Our roadways are great and well taken care of.  We dont have california's issues with pot holes and bullshit. 

The entire city is properly laid out in an easy to navigate grid system, and we have fairly decent highways.  Traffic of course does exist, but nothing like say, L.A.

Mass transit sucks here, that is definitely one thing we need work on.  There is a light rail train now but it doesnt have a ton of coverage.  Over the years as they keep expanding it things will get better for it.

The cost of living is going up. It's a LOT more expensive then it was when I moved here back in 97.  However its still very very very affordable to down right cheap depending on where you choose to live.  Scottsdale is the snobby more upper class city and does cost a lot more.

We have a huge tech industry here (important for me since I work in I.T.) as well as lots of manufacturing and retail stuff.  The city is growing and usually is in the top 5 cities for growth every year, and definitely top 10 when it does get bumped down.

We do have medical pot now and stuff as well, and they are trying to pass the recreational stuff.  We are a republican state but I feel that stuff is changing.  We have a huge influx of people that come from other states, especially CA and cold states back east and they bring their more democratic views with em.

Once my kids are grown up and on their own I might move to another place, but its unlikely.  All the places I like more usually have massive costs associated with them, or they have no jobs and are in the boonies so I couldn't move there anyway unless I get a secured remote job.

Phoenix gets real hot in the summer that's a major thung to consider.outside in the summer the air lottery feels like getting in your car that's benn sitting in the hot sun for hours.
Aside from that I always enjoyed arizona. I've noticed that most arizona people have a good vibe. Also there are some very unique and amazing ecosystems there.
One of the draw backs in phoenix also is you will notice the air isn't as fresh as in new mexico.

We do have our smog warning days, as it is a major metro city with millions of people, but generally the size of the valley it is in is so large that it doesn't stick around.

It's NOTHING like how the Los Angles area is.  That shit actually makes my eyes start to water and burn when driving on I10 coming from AZ.  Once you go over those hills that dips you into the LA basin its fucking terrible!
