Why would anyone move to Arizona willingly? It is the closest thing this country has to a police state.

Not to mention the implications of moving to a region where the ecosystem cannot support you.

Bit of an update, as much has happened this past weekend at the music festival. I'll try to keep it short and simple for now;

No more Arizona

The group and I ingested rather large amounts of ketamine, LSD, and MDMA. We were ingesting these substances liberally, but that's no news for the group. Saturday night rolls around (day 3), and I score some DMT. As a friend, I offer to the group to share the spiritual journey with me. We went back to a friend's car and began the journey. It started with me. I loaded the pipe with ashes and sprinkled roughly 100mg of DMT on top. I then pre-melted the substance, and then vaporized it. By the second rip, I was shot out of my body and into the experience. I wont go into the knit and grit of it, but it was in fact the most potent, intense, terrifying, and amazing experiences of my life. So, I come down after 5~ minutes roughly. I then pass the pipe to my friend in the driver seat so he can prepare himself some DMT. He does so, and blasts off as as well. He comes to, and proceeds to tell me that he quits all substances and then he leaves to get food. So now it's just me and two people in the back seat. I hand the pipe to a friend in the back, he packs it, blasts off. He seemingly had a good experience. Lastly, my girlfriend takes the pipe and blasts off. No bad report from her either.
      Later that night, it got very rainy and cold. Our tent got soaked, along with a lot of our clothing. We only had shorts, and t-shirts. No shoes. Needless to say, within no time at all we are freezing. We tried to take refuge in the car but that wasn't cutting it, so we went home Saturday night. Now this is where it gets interesting; I woke up Sunday morning to a phone call from a friend in the group. I answer, and he proceeds to tell me last minute that he can no longer do the Arizona trip. He said he is too uncertain about his life, and feels that he needs to go to New York instead. I am shocked. I then talk to another friend in the group. He tells me that he is no longer going to Arizona because he had a serious experience at the music festival and feels that he needs to go back to school. Lastly, I talk to the final variable in the group. She tells me that when everyone else started bailing she decided to as well. She is now going to Rhode Island.
      SO, now there is no Arizona trip because everyone bailed on me and now my thumb is truly up my ass. I now have to re-plan my whole current life because people can't handle their substances. From this, I learned not to rely on any one, for any thing, ever.

That would bum me out my friend.  What are your alternative plans?  I made a cross country road trip by myself once.  East coast to west coast.  Seen a lot of beautiful countryside.  One of the cleanest and beautiful states was Arizona, at least the parts I drove through (Phoenix, I cut across I-10 to San Diego).  I'm thinking about doing it again for a WWOOF program if I end up in Cali.

Sorry your trip didn't work out, I've had similar plans fall out for moving from AZ north. On the bright side, as some have said, Arizona is a pretty (-cough-extremely-cough-) shitty state, unless you are living north (Flagstaff, Sedona, etc) which can get expensive.

Some people like it, fuck that 115 degree fry-an-egg-on-your-dash summer weather though

I thought of this as a possibility as well, but the decisions they made in contrast to the plans we had just don't add up. One goes to New York, another to school, and the other to Rhode Island. These decisions were all made overnight. It is clear to me that the apprehension of diving into the Arizona trip was far too much for them. It just sucks because they reassured me on a daily basis that they had the strength for this, and that we were absolutely going to follow through. It's a major let down, and they all have recognized that. The fact that we could have made this work had they just actually followed through and tried is what kills me most.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a plan B. So now, I'm stuck in Massachusetts until I figure that out. I'm thinking about trying to tough it out and bank some cash until September and then try and move down to AZ. This time around, I'm going to make plans for just me, as I know now that I can not rely on outside variables for things such as this. Just a major bummmer, you know? :shrug:

No argument about Phoenix there, I mean it has its good parts, but overall what a gross fucking city. And the duststorms... It's like a mini apocalypse. But outside of the valley isn't nearly as bad - the heat still killed me though so I moved to WA

We're having the equivalent of october/november temperatures for AZ right now!

yeah i definately won't complain about the no natural disaster part. But it's just too fucking hot. NV is my run away when I need to get out of the heat. or a cheaper, quicker place would be up north.

and yeah PHX is disgusting.
