I used to give homeless people money.
East coast homeless is different than west coast Colorado homeless people IME.
East Coast homeless people will try and finesse you out of your money and give you some bullshit story about being short on a bus ticket, or they ran out of gas and they will be right back to pay you back lol.
I've watched a kid at a Chicago Bus station, that stitched a WWJD and other christian patches on his backpack, purely to deceive people into believing he isn't conning them out of money, going around, saying him and his sister are trying to get home, and they are like $8 short for their ticket. I threw him a $5, then I noticed he was just making rounds, asking everybody for money, then those people get on the bus, new people come in and then he makes another round asking.
Over and over all day.
So after the few times of giving homeless people money and feeling deceived about the situation, I stopped.
In Denver, you will see the same dude, in the same spot everyday, with an empty gas can, making it seem like he ran out of gas. But he just uses it as a con.
CO homeless people are fairly aggressive for the most part, surprisingly, like they expect you to give them money and then get mad if you don't, like you owe them something lol.
If you walk into a liquor store off colfax and see a couple dudes just standing outside, they are just praying on people that walk out, to get enough change to get beer or cheap vodka.
I see it all the time.
The only homeless person I've seen that was just straight up honest, was in vegas, and he had a sign that said "I Just Want A Beer" lol Like, I would give that dude money, over a dude trying to trick me into believing some obvious lie.
My buddy was telling me how this girl walked by his place one night, while he was outside smoking a cigarette. and she asked him if he had $5 she could have and he's like "I literally only have $3 to my name, but I will give it to you if you really need it" and she replied "UGH THAT'S NOT ENOUGH" and stormed off.
I would have told her to eat a dick and keep it moving.
another time my same homie was at the bus stop smoking a cigarette, and a homeless lady asked him for a cigarette and he told her it was his last one and she's like "OH IT'S LIKE THAT, I SEE HOW IT IS MOTHAFUCKA, FUCK YOU THEN"
lol
I don't mean to make it come off as if all homeless people are lying, but 8/10 times, it's for drugs or alcohol. If somebody came up to me and was like "Hey I don't mean to bother you, but I am starving and have no money and just need something to eat, if there is any way you could help me out, I would appreciate it" I would be like "No worries, I got you, let's go eat" But you never hear that, I was on 16th street mall, and this homeless dude asked this guy walking by if he had any spare change or money and the guy was like "No but you can have this other half of this sandwich" and the guy replied "I DON'T WANT THAT SHIT"
haha i mean, how rude. no wonder you're homeless, you're just an asshole and burned all of your bridges with everybody in your life.
There are just so many homeless people in Denver, and they pray on certain areas, certain intersections, stop lights, they coordinate with the lights turning red to walk down by all the cars stopped at the red light and walk by everyones window looking all sad with a sign, saying some bullshit lie, trying to create false sympathy towards them, to coerce you into giving them money.
I just don't like being deceived and lied to. And IME, that is usually the case with most homeless people i've encountered.
No you didn't run out of gas, No you aren't short on your bus ticket, No you aren't going to get food with the money I give you, as soon as I walk away, you're going to walk into the liquor store and get a beer. You don't give a fuck about me or what my financial situation may be, you only want my money and if I won't give it to you, then fuck off, onto the next one.
I've traveled so much and just see it everywhere and dealt with it enough times to really not care anymore. Just lies, cons and coercion. Which sucks for the people who really need help, and you have all these drug addicts trying to con people, turning someone like me, who used to try and help people out that I thought really needed help, only to realize that I was tricked. So I just say fuck it now.

I probably just ranted off topic, but I typed too much now to just delete it.
